The Print Estimator/Planner position is essential in job costing, analysis, communication, and the successful flow of all print jobs through the on-site print shop. This position must have or build a robust knowledge of both the print shop software as well as all print processes, equipment, and labor time to accomplish the print objective with efficiency and quality. Additionally, this position is essential in the accurate tracking and analysis of all print jobs through the system. This role works with four different teams, develops strategic practices that enhance production and drive down costs, resolves issues, and maintains workflow across the production floor.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Receives customer project information and utilizes estimating software to convert into actionable process to achieve desired result
Accurately converts print requirements into an actionable estimate reflecting material, equipment, and labor costs
Works closely with Print Customer Service Team to understand print project scope and timelines
Aligns with Scheduler Broker and Material Handling to ensure all materials, subcontracted goods and services are provided in accordance with the print project timeline
Owns, in partnership with Print Shop leadership, direct oversight to the print job verifying all processes are cost identified
Maintains day-to-day print and equipment scheduling to maximize multiple jobs across the shop floor
Creates and utilizes defined repeatable processes, standards, and methodologies to perform process measurement to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements
Builds and maintains knowledge of postal requirements and their direct impact on all direct mail print jobs in cooperation with the Postal Compliance Team
Reviews and recommends changes to standard operating procedures
Has in-depth knowledge of all departmental software, hardware, and systems
Is responsible for approval of Subcontractor invoices
Provides back-up assistance to the supervisor in administrative support, troubleshooting, scheduling, decision-making, and client contact
Prepares and brings understanding to all production reporting
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Prepares reports by collecting and analyzing data and summarizing information trends
Performs other duties as assigned
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
Production warehouse environment with associated noise, dust, and materials
Fumes from forklift exhaust
Must be willing to learn, work on and assist on production equipment
Must be able to bend, crouch, squat, crawl, kneel, balance, and reach above head and lift at least 50 lbs.
This job may require long periods of standing or sitting, with ability to walk to various meetings around the campus

Knowledge/Experience:
3-5 years Print Production experience
2 + years of print estimating preferred
Understanding of Print Processes and Paper
Understanding of Print Layouts and Efficiencies
Knows basic postal requirements for various mailings
The ideal candidate will have good math skills complimented with ability to recognize and resolve discrepancies.
Knowledge of software applications including, Accura, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), InDesign, Plant Press. VDP, knowledge base in digital printing

Pay Range: $24.00 to $27.50/hr
