Summary Description: This position will be on the grounds team and will help support the campus community with all pest and waste needs. This position also supports the grounds staff with whatever is needed.

Anticipated Salary Range: $18.00 to $20.77 per hour

Responsibilities:

Pest Management:

Implement and continue to develop our integrated pest management program for Colorado College; provide continued direction, planning, execution and oversight to the IPM program. Provide all needed staff training and oversight related to campus pest control measures, best practices, and seasonal facility preparedness. Perform and manage campus pest control measures, including insect, termite, rodent extermination and wildlife removal.

Waste Management:

Provide input on composting and recycling policies and procedures. Collect, transport, empty, and return all compost and recycling from campus facilities. Train kitchen and custodial staff on composting and recycling policies and procedures. Handle composting and recycling inquiries from the campus community. Partner with sustainability office to produce monthly and yearly reports.

Grounds:

Participate in grounds maintenance and the propagation and care of grass, flowers, plants and shrubs; responsible for the aesthetics of the College to include weeding, trimming, refreshing materials, and cleaning up debris and trash as well as total grounds detail responsibility for an assig Proactively remove ice, snow and debris from sidewalks, streets and grounds

Additional Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

Must be a licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator through the Colorado Department of Agriculture, Division of Plant Industry or able to obtain within six months of hire; high school graduate or equivalent work experience plus a minimum of three years of related experience, to include experience using insecticide and equipment, rodent traps and bait equipment, and the dispersal of caught rodents and small wildlife; knowledge and understanding of extermination techniques and industry best practices with insects, rodents, and other small wildlife including snakes, bats, and raccoons; knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions; demonstrated success working as a team member; knowledge of plant and landscape care; knowledge of and ability to use a personal computer; ability to operate landscaping equipment and utilize basic gardening tools. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College's motor vehicle insurance

Physical requirements include exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and carrying loads up and down stairs, and occasional climbing of roofs; continual walking, sometim s on rough terrain pushing, pulling, or carrying tools and equipment; working in all weather conditions and noisy, dusty conditions; exposure to chemicals and related hazards. Uniforms and personal protection equipment are furnished and required to be worn as appropriate
