N256 provides applied systems engineering/mission engineering for 2 Combatant Commands (CCMDs), to include NORAD/USNORTHCOM and HQ US Space Command. N256 is a vibrant element of the N250 Joint Staff / Combatant Command (JS/CCMD) Division emphasizing collaboration and sponsor mission orientation. This position focuses on supporting emerging NORAD and USNORTHCOM work with the Surgeon General (SG) office to develop the Integrated CONUS Medical Operations Plan. This DoD led effort is in partnership with USNORTHCOM, DHS/FEMA, and HHS/ASPR, National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health (NCDMPH) is leveraging MITRE's Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on the development of this Combat Medical Surge Plan.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Apply systems engineering methodology and processes relating to acquisition, architecture design, system integration, risk assessment, and other systems engineering disciplines to solve operational challenges across multiple NORAD and USNORTHCOM mission areas.

  • Collaborate across MITRE and with relevant partners to identify and develop solution recommendations leveraging best practices and state-of-the-art engineering solutions.

  • Conduct in-depth research to address current and future customer needs.

  • Develop technical papers and presentations to inform decision makers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience in an engineering, science, or technology field, or a Master’s degree and 5 years’ relevant experience.

  • Previous experience in one or more cybersecurity specialties.

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly provide technical analysis and actionable recommendations to decision makers at all levels.

  • This position requires an on-site presence of 5 days a week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CISSP or other demonstrated cyber experience.

  • Experience with requirements documentation and program/mission gap analysis.

  • Familiarity with or experience in DoD and Civilian Medical Disaster Medicine

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Systems Engineering Principles, concepts, methods, and tools for developing Systems Engineering frameworks and documents.

  • Ability to apply Systems Engineering concepts to real world problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Experience integrating divergent team members to complete task requirements.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$138,500 - $173,000 - $207,500 Annual
