Xylem Electrical Controls Engineer III in Colorado Springs, Colorado

The Electrical Controls Engineer will be responsible for design and development of all electrical deliverables on water process automation projects. They will support development of automated control systems, including electrical design and programming of UL508A power distribution and control panels for high purity water treatment systems and industrial wastewater treatment systems. Engineer will also be responsible for software development and testing of these control systems including Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC and HMI solutions.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks for the Electrical Controls Engineer:

  • Applies knowledge of NEC, UL508A, NFPA, CSA and CE standards to control system panel designs.

  • Parses customer specifications and requirements and applies them to system designs.

  • Writes PLC and HMI programs for water treatment systems utilizing Rockwell / Allen Bradley and Siemens systems.

  • Configures automation networks, including Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, Profibus, Profinet and Modbus.

  • Performs Factory Acceptance Tests and configures control and automation systems

  • Troubleshoots equipment operation issues which may be related to electrical design or programming

  • Takes ownership of business practices to achieve impact within the role

  • Drive innovation, and continuous improvement of systems, methods, processes, tools, and standards.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required; Electrical or Chemical Engineering preferred but will consider degrees in other engineering disciplines.

  • 5+ years of work experience

  • Eagerness to learn

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

  • Industry experience with industrial control panel design

  • Experience with PLC/HMI programming in Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000 and Siemens TIA Portal

  • Experience with pharmaceutical validation is a plus

  • Knowledge of machine networks and communication protocols

  • Ability to innovate and adapt

  • Willingness to work closely with a fantastic team

  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical is a plus

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and project skills

Travel Requirements: Less than 25%. May travel to the field or to other plants to support testing, start-up, commissioning, or troubleshooting of projects they work on.

Job postings will include a wide salary range, with each role's pay falling within that range. The starting salary is based on factors such as skills, experience, location, and market conditions.

Salary range:

$81,000.00 - $146,000.00
