Summary Description: The Physics Department highly values our warm community, and seeks an Academic Administrative Assistant (AAA) who will collaborate with us to nurture our students, faculty, and staff. To this end, the AAA provides a point of contact amongst community members and creates and organizes community events, for example meetings of our student mentoring program or department picnics. The AAA also works in tandem with the Department Chair to manage the business operations of the department including budgets, student workers, meeting and event coordination, personnel logistics, and scheduling. Anticipated Salary Range: $20.44 to $24.31 per hour

Responsibilities:

Serve as liaison between students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors. Organize and execute department events including meetings, visiting speakers, and community building socials. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and support student workers and paraprofessionals. Collaborate with department chair to manage, monitor, and organize departmental budgets including the operating budget and endowed/gift funds. Collaborate with department chair in management of personnel and scheduling logistics.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma Minimum of four years of general clerical or administrative service experience, which includes one year of experience supporting the day-to-day functions of a program (i.e. developing/improving program operations, event planning, calendaring, inventory control, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) Skilled in oral and written communication with the ability to write and conduct daily communications Communication and interpersonal skills Skilled in utilizing organizational and time-management skills Ability to be self-motivated and proactive learner Skilled in collaboration with a variety of individuals Possesses a high level of self-direction, attention to detail, able to work independently and execute multiple deliverables at any given time

Preferred Qualifications:

Associates degree / some college Background in higher education Having the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to effectively interact with and meet the needs of individuals with various cultural backgroun
