The new Data and Predictive Sciences function in Research Tech is focused on harnessing the power of GSK's data-as-an-asset to drive research productivity upper quartile ambitions. As a member of the Research Data Standards team, you will focus on understanding what are the data that matters to answer the questions that matter for research and ensuring the capabilities required to leverage and protect it.

GSK Research's experimental and computational scale,and breadth of collaborations and data acquisition generates aunique Research data assetthatmust be captured and leveraged todeliver competitive advantage.

As the Director, Research Data & Capability your specific focus will be on working with technical and scientific domain experts to establish the best practices required to maintain and leverage GSK's data asset(s) and thereby enable value realization while ensuring appropriate controls are in place The people enabler of maximizing the value of GSK's data and ensuring its Quality and Security. You will work across Research to diagnose, design and embed a tailored capability and competency-based framework through to adoption partnering closely with GSK's #BeDigital campaign to drive digital literacy across GSK.

Key Responsibilities: This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following.

You will work closely with the Senior Director, Research Data Standards to represent the business' Subject Matter Expertise (SME) input into GSK Tech to define the data model for Research, enabling interoperability and reuse across strategic data assets that will ultimately form the Research Data Asset(s).

Responsible for aligning our data management capabilities to the business strategy while reinforcing the value of data as an asset, critical to enabling R&D decision making. Bring a foundation of data management & business acumen related to R&D.

Serve as liaison between Business, functional areas and Technology to ensure that data related to business requirements are clearly defined, communicated, well understood and considered as part of quality, compliance, operational efficiency and strategic planning.

You will contribute your deep Quality and Scientific knowledge and experience in protecting and valuing GSK's data (e.g. Data Integrity, Intellectual Property protection, ALCOA and FAIR data standards) to input into driving data-as-an-asset best practice across Research.

You will be a flexible and agile thinker who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and organizational boundaries to direct your skills, knowledge, and experience to solve high value problems in Research.

You will take on responsibilities for data product business ownership for one or more key data products acting as a standard bearer for adopting for 'data-as-an-asset' mindset and practices.

Your hands-on practical knowledge of data products and understanding of what it takes to develop, maintain, and leverage them and realize their benefit makes you an ideal partner to both the tech and D&PS organizations.

Your deep knowledge and unique blend of scientific and technical disciplines coupled with business acumen and stakeholder management will be critical for the success of this role.

You will be a standard bearer for proper Quality ways of working, engineering discipl ne, process improvement, etc for the entire Research Tech organization.

You will work across Data & Predictive Sciences to contribute to peer review, quality, consistency, enterprise thinking and skills development.

#BeDigital: You will collaborate closely with GSK's #BeDigital campaign groups to fully understand their remit and resources and to determine how to build on that to drive digital upskilling across Research.

You will develop and implement a digital and data skills capability build for Research Tech: Identifying the skills and competency levels needed across the organization and creating and implementing plans to develop those skills.

Collaborate: You will form a close partnership with the GSK #BeDigital campaign and across Research Tech to understand their data needs and develop a skills and competency framework accompanied by training and development options tailored to them.

Evaluate: You will regularly assess the effectiveness of the data skills strategy and adjust accordingly, by tracking progress, measuring results and impact, and gathering feedback and communicating outcomes.

Training and development: You will seek out and make available fit-for-purpose resources for skills development and may develop specific resources appropriate to cohorts in Research Tech.

You will use your organizational and scientific domain knowledge, your strengths in advocacy, change leadership and communications coupled with your enthusiasm, passion and influence to understand business needs and culture to drive lifting digital skills competency across Research Tech.

Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

Bachelor Science degree

7+ years pharmaceutical or biotech drug discovery/development experience.

7+ years' experience in life sciences and/or pharmaceutical experience and pre-clinical discovery research and work with scientists and leaders across Research Tech.

7+ years' experience in change management and capabilities strategies and training in providing business subject matter expert input into developing and utilizing data.

5+ years' experience in implementing data governance, data quality and standards and policies e.g. Data Integrity ALCOA and FAIR data standards.

5+ years' experience of matrix leadership, collaboration and stakeholder management.

3+ years training and skills development, designing and implementing effective skills development frameworks and training/learning experiences.

Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

PhD pharmaceutical or biotech drug discovery/development experience.

Organizational knowledge and familiarity with the scientific and technical domains across Research Tech and other key stakeholders across GSK Tech, AIML, Risk &Compliance, #BeDigital & Learning and Development.

Problem solving and business analysis: Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and business analysis, including the ability to diagnose business needs and pinpoint key areas to focus on impactful solutions.

A continuous and agile learner, problem solver, and focus on getting stuff done in the field of data products and driving data-as-an-asset.

Communications and influence: demonstrated track record in driving change and influence through others.
