The Business Coordinator I provides support and coordination of a variety of business activities requiring independent judgment, including reviewing business documents and assisting in developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts and budget data as directed by supervisor.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively use personal computer to communicate, prepare proposals to include cost information on spread sheet as applicable, and provide reports of activities.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with faculty students and staff.

Essential Duties/Tasks

  • Account Payable - Prepares, reviews and approves vouchers and requisitions in Aggiebuy. Investigates errors on transactions and recommends appropriate corrective action. Provides input to policies and interprets policies and procedures. Responds to inquiries from vendors and the Financial Management Operations Department. Maintains the department credit cards. Responsible for maintaining detailed knowledge of disbursement rules and procedures for Texas A&M University, AgriLife Research, and Texas A&M Foundation funds.

  • Accounts Receivable - Responsible for communicating relevant compliance and procedures to customers. Communicates cash handling procedures and deposits funds received. Responds to GI Lab customer inquiries regarding past due accounts. Serves as back up to Business Coordinator III for deposits, cash handling and A/R Invoicing for GI lab.

  • Concur - Serves as Concur Administrator for staff and faculty. Prepares travel documentation in Concur for staff and faculty. Communicates TAMU policies and procedures regarding travel and purchasing to staff and faculty. Serves as CitiBank Travel Card Administrator, increasing and decreasing limits as well as reviewing declines and purchases.
