Job Description

This Old Farm, Inc. is looking for someone who loves the farm lifestyle and is passionate about helping livestock farmers reach their customers. Located outside of Colfax, IN, between Indianapolis and Lafayette, we are a USDA-inspected meat processing plant with farmers as our primary customers, though we also serve meat lovers.

Our mission is to support the family farm through education as well as processing and marketing locally raised and processed meat. We value both skill level and attitude, and we prioritize a desire to learn and be part of our team over immediate proficiency. Pay and specific responsibilities will be assigned based on experience.

Potential Duties:

• Provide customer service in person, via email, and on the phone.
• Perform clerical work and data entry.
• Label meat and enter data.
• Ensure quality assurance.
• Fulfill orders and assist with carrying out orders from the freezer to the truck when needed.
• Purchase items for the store front and company.
• Manage accounts receivable and retail checkout using a register and QuickBooks.
• Potentially develop sales assignments with commission opportunities.

Requirements:

• A love for the farmers we serve.
• Willingness to continue education and training.
• Willingness to help in all aspects of the business as necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with QuickBooks is beneficial.
• Experience with livestock and agriculture is beneficial. Knowledge of meat cuts is also beneficial.

Work Schedule:

• Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm. Starting times vary between 7 am and 10 am, and ending times vary between 3 pm and 7 pm. Sundays are always off.

Compensation:

• Pay ranges from $14.00 to $ 20.00 per hour, based on experience.
• Benefits include an employee discount, flexible schedule, health insurance, and paid time off.
• Substantial growth opportunities in responsibility and pay, with potential to grow into an account management position paying $45K per year.

Work Location:

• This position is in-person at our facility in Colfax, IN.
