Job Description Responsible for the conceptualization and development of quantitative models for energy portfolio analysis, risk measurement, and energy cost forecasting. Owns and defends modeling methodologies and results. Provides analytical support to the origination team including financial analysis, economic valuation of projects and PPAs, and financial structuring. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate and continuously improve asset optimization, risk measurement, and resource planning capabilities. Provides theoretical and quantitative guidance for evaluation of structured renewable transactions, new clean asset acquisitions, and integration of renewable resources. Utilizes knowledge of PSE's resource portfolio, regional energy supply and demand fundamentals, commodity market dynamics, and modeling best practices to mentor analysts and inform the company's energy supply and risk management strategies. Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety. Job Responsibilities Create and improve quantitative models for forecasting and optimization of PSE's energy portfolio and energy trading activities. Own and be accountable for accuracy of model results and justification of methodologies. Lead analysis in support of effective PPA negotiations including financial analysis, economic valuation and financial structuring. Evaluate bids submitted to PSE Front Office voluntary RFPs. Collaborate with originators, operations, trading, risk control, finance and regulatory teams. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the region's energy supply resources and operations, energy system modeling best practices, and emerging risk measurement techniques. Present and explain forecasts of energy supply costs and serve as subject matter expert in communications with internal and external stakeholders. Evaluate the impact of new and potential transactions and/or market developments on the risk profile of PSE's energy portfolio, advise management of methods and techniques to mitigate emerging risks. Support WUTC rate case filings by preparing testimony, responding to (and initiating) data requests from external stakeholders, and defending PSE's forecast methodologies and assumptions. Ensure compliance with policies governing control over model inputs and outputs, data integrity, quality, and security. Perform ad hoc analysis and other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. (Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or similar) Minimum 8 years work experience, with at least 4 as a quantitative analyst in the energy industry Proficiency with quantitative methods and concepts including regression analysis, Monte Carlo simulations, stress testing, and scenario analysis Familiarity with production cost modeling and software such as Plexos, Aurora, GenTrader, PROMOD, etc. Programming experience in Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, or similar Experience with financial analysis and risk measurement techniques Advanced skills in MS Office, especially Excel, including
