Position Summary:

• Supports group leader in fire prevention, fire protection, and emergency response matters.
• Maintain fire apparatus and all emergency equipment in "in-service" condition at all times.
• Remains knowledgeable with practices, procedures, and regulations pertaining to confined space issues, worker safety issues, and spill response issues.
• Participates in the Loss Prevention Survey and in resolution of Loss Prevention Survey issues and conflicts. Is proactive in identifying and resolving loss prevention concerns.
• Implements site-specific, training programs for personnel in areas which may include fire suppression, systems maintenance and testing, fire prevention, hot work permits, and emergency response planning as required by Government regulations and General Motors standards and guidelines.
• Ensures that pertinent training, inspection and maintenance records are in compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies and General Motors standards and guidelines.
• Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.
• Support security officer and their job functions.
• Responds to all emergencies as outlined in local procedures.
• Participates in pre-emergency planning and assists in the implementation of the emergency plans with both facilities and outside emergency organizations. Coordinates fire department visits to the facility.
• Assures that all fire and related GRIT reports are completed and forwarded to the designated personnel. Completes and provides follow up as needed.
• Ensures the punctual execution of all inspections, revision and maintenance activities related to the Security Fire Protection Systems and equipment.
