Community Wellness Partners CNA Trainee in Clinton, New York
WAGE RATE - $15.50 - $20.86/HR
The Nurse Aide Trainee position is to be used as a bridge to becoming a CNA. As a trainee, you will work as needed to assist nursing in a variety of duties on various units by assignment until a CNA class is provided for you.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School graduate preferred – No Experience Necessary
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :
Receives assignment at the beginning of their shift.
Gathers and sets up supplies for AM/PM care
Makes beds and tidies up resident rooms after morning care
Removes soiled linen from beds if needed and takes to soiled linen bin, replaces with fresh linen
Watches for torn linen and gowns, reports to Charge Nurse/Unit Manager
Returns basins and toiletries to bedside stand, be sure all are labeled
Keeps bedside stands, closets, bathrooms neat and clean
Provides housekeeping to resident rooms as needed including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and dusting
Assists CNA’s transferring residents with mechanical lifts as the second assist operating the lift ONLY
Put away clean personal laundry appropriately.
Assist in transporting of residents to various departments and activities in the facility and outside appointments.
Assists in distribution of food and feeding residents (upon completion of 15 hour feeding training)) at mealtime in the main dining area.
Passes between meal nourishment and beverages to appropriate residents.
Documents numerical information into the kiosk such as meal intakes and fluid passes.
Spends 1:1 time with residents in need as indicated by the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse/DON
Providing companionship by listening and conversing
Offering 1:1 activities such as card playing, other games, reading, outside time
Provides companionship to residents in need in small groups (1-3 residents) as indicated by the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse/DON.
Accompanies residents to outside medical appointments as deemed appropriate by Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse/DON.
Answers call lights and provides assistance if able or notifies nursing staff of resident needs.
Assists Nursing staff and unit secretary to keep supply rooms stocked, neat, and tidy.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to maintain confidential information.
Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, angry people within the facility .
Must follow all infection control policies and procedures.
Must be aware of all abuse reporting requirements.
Must attend all education/in-services required of the nursing department.
Personal Requirements
Appropriate scrub attire as required by departmental dress code.
Must be able to work independently.
Complies with code of conduct and proper badge identification
Physical Requirements
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours
Must be in good health, be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position

Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to LCCN/Presbyterian policies and HIPAA regulations governing the confidentiality and security of protected health information for both manual and electronic resident records, charts, information and other confidential information including (but not limited to) employee records, computer access codes and passwords.
