Qualifications
Experience in a related field with skills in office and personnel management, education, hospitality, customer service, or general business management.
Knowledge of general business financial processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage time effectively.
Knowledge of Museum organization and processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the board and volunteers.
Degree preferred.
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Henry County Historical Societys History Museum consists of eight buildings and grounds---the Delozier, Annex, Anheuser-Busch, Dog Trot, One Room Schoolhouse, Dorman House, WWandH Exchange, and a rental property on North Washington Street.
This position will be part-time, (five days per week 32.5 paid hours) requiring flexible scheduling to include frequent evening and special event activities. In the case of special activities on nights and/or weekends, the weekly work schedule may be adjusted by the President or his liaison. The position will include two weeks of paid vacation and one week of paid sick leave. The Director will receive family membership in the Historical Society. The Director will report directly to the President of the Henry County Historical Society Board.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
*Have a vision of the present operation and future expansion.
*Ensure that the inventory and location of current artifacts are maintained by overseeing accessions and the acceptance or other disposition of new artifacts received.
*Oversee the training and supervision of employees and volunteers.
*Oversee the management of the membership database, new technologies, the genealogy area, the childrens corner, and the gift shop.
*Be a resource person for the community at large, providing information relating to the museum, and the history of Clinton and Henry County, and presenting programs when requested.
*Oversee all publicity, including Facebook, the Website, and museum activities and connections within Henry County such as with the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Committee, Main Street Organization, the Library, and also with the State of Missouri.
*Develop marketing strategies for the museum in conjunction with others to enhance community awareness of and engagement with the Museums collections through social media, programming, and other outreach efforts.
*Keep informed of current trends in museum operations by networking and attending conferences.
*Disseminate operational information at the museum board meetings, the semi-annual members meeting in June, and the annual members meeting in November.
