Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Respiratory Therapist.
As a Respiratory Therapist at MercyOne, you will be responsible for providing basic and advanced respiratory care services to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy, objectives, standards of care, and procedures of respiratory care services. The registered respiratory therapist plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of respiratory care. In addition, the registered respiratory therapist is expected to serve as a resource to physicians, colleagues, and customers and participate in orientation, in-service education, departmental quality assurance activities, and staff leadership roles within Respiratory Therapy Department.
Consults with and assists physicians and nurses with respiratory care plan for patients and facilitates the implementation of physician orders.
Assess patients and evaluates appropriateness and quality of respiratory care to identify each patient's needs and provide the appropriate care and communicates those needs with the patient's physician.
Provides effective education to patients, students, co-workers, and other members of the healthcare team as appropriate. Including but not limited to; smoking cessation education, care and cleaning of device education, medication side effects and dosages education and respiratory therapies such as Incentive Spirometry, MDI/DPI usage, HHN usage, CPT/Vest therapy education.
Performs both fundamental and advanced diagnostic procedures including oximetry measurement, capnography, arterial puncture, mechanical ventilation waveform analysis, and pulmonary function testing.
Performs emergency and acute respiratory care procedures in accordance with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Schedule:
- 6:00 am – 6:30 pm; every third weekend; holiday rotation
General Requirements:
Must be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire.
Must be licensed as an RCP in the State of Iowa within one year of hire.
Experience in another health care setting is desirable, with critical care experience preferred.
Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
Must be ACLS certified within one year of hire.
Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
Education:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
