OhioMeansJobs Lake County is assisting a Cleveland based manufacturing company with their recruiting efforts for the following position: Track Assembler Location: Cleveland, OH Position ID: 44073015 Job Type: Full-time, Monday-Friday Shifts: 1st-5:00am-2:30pm, 2nd-4:00pm-12:30am Wage:$18.00-$20.00 an hour Benefits: Health and Dental Insurance, Paid Holidays, Vacation, Sick Leave, Retirement Job Purpose: Track Assemblers will use mechanical aptitude and skills to build full track panels, turnouts and crossings, as well as build other rail components to customer specifications. Following instructions from blueprints, engineering change documents and work instructions, the operations will consist of the manual assembly, fabrication, grinding and fitting together rail components such as frogs, switch rods, switch points, guard rail, and gage plates for final trackwork assembly Track Assembler Roadway position requires work near or has the potential for fouling a track or will work as a flagman, watchman or lookout. These positions have expanded drug screen obligations *. *Duties and responsibilities:

  • Follow assembly processes for assigned area and follow written work instructions and verbal guidance by department supervisor;
  • Use designated instruments to complete inspection of completed part and accurately record dimensions on quality check sheets;
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures, scales, torque wrenches, and calipers. Must be able to measure to the 1/32" and record the required inspection information;
  • Maintain area cleanliness and organization;
  • follow safety policies and practices when operating equipment and machinery.

Advanced duties and responsibilities:

  • Use various hand tools such as grinders, huck guns, impact wrenches, etc. to secure/attach/fit rail components for trackwork assembly process;
  • Operate overhead crane to lift/move/load track segments for the assembly process and in/out of the work area, or to load finished product for shipment;
  • Identify quality discrepancies and non-conforming issues and notify QA and/or make the correction according to customer requirements;
  • Pass certification for mig welding;
  • Train other employees on work processes.

Qualifications, Experience, Education:

  • Skill Level I -- 0-1 years of experience with High Diploma or equivalent;
  • Skill Level II -- 1-2 years of experience or Technical Certifications and/or related work experience;
  • Skill Level III -- 3-4 years of experience;
  • Skill Level IV -- 5+ years of experience;
  • Must be familiar with manufacturing environment, with use of industrial equipment and mechanics, and ability to use various hand and power tools and measuring devices for completion of work;
  • Must be able to read a tape measure to the 1/32" and have experience using other instruments such as gauges, calipers, etc.;
  • Must be able to read, write, count and communicate with various levels of personnel.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to read and understanding blueprints, schematics, written work instructions, and other visual aids;
  • Prior experience using hand tools as well as pneumatic and electric powered grinders and impact wrenches, as well as overhead cranes to transport rail and rail components into and out of the work area;
  • Experience in operating forklift.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions:

Strength -- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, push and pull up to 75lb;

Motion -- Constant walking, frequent and sustained bending, crouching, stopping, kneeing, squatting and overhead reaching and climbing ladders and using tools with constant vibration;
