Customer Support Chemist Cleveland, OH Are you a Chemist in the adhesives and sealants industry that is looking to take their career to the next level? Then look no further than this Customer Support Chemist role with PPG, at our Cleveland, OH facility! As a Customer Support Chemist, you will use your thorough knowledge of adhesives and sealants, polymer, and crosslinking chemistries. You will be considered one of the product-line experts and be able to apply your broad understanding of formulation practices to contribute to the profit objectives of the market segment while meeting customer expectations and requirements. To be most successful, you will need to use fundamental principles to solve problems, identify root causes using BPI tools, and demonstrate effective communication and listening skills. You will also serve as a technical resource for others outside of the project areas by interacting with customers, suppliers, Marketing, plant, and quality personnel. You will also need to be able to search and interpret literature, be cognizant of competitor technology, and intellectual property. Focusing on results, driving change, promoting teamwork and trust, and demonstrating customer and market understanding are key attributes. You will work onsite at our Cleveland, OH facility in the decorative automotive parts and accessories market segment for Tier accounts and will report to the S&T Customer Support Manager for the team. Responsibilities: Adhere to all PPG safety protocols and encourage a broad safety culture in a laboratory work environment. Conduct development work such as the formulation, application, and testing for all layers in the decorative parts market segment. Work with manager in setting smart project goals, milestones against bold timelines. Work with the commercial and the field organization informally and formally for ongoing project work. Apply root cause analysis and BPI tools to lead resolution of manufacturing and field issues. Maintain results through written and verbal summaries, coatings reports, test drill presentations, and project updates. Work with regional labs; and together with R&D and other departments on the development and improvement of new and existing formulations. Simulate customer line conditions to troubleshoot field issues and to increase the speed and success rate of product launches. Help with FLC, Secure Launch process (formula filing, conversion planning, PDCA). Qualifications: Bachelor's Science Degree in Chemistry or related Engineering or Science field with 6+ years of related experience.
