The Sherwin Business Services (SBS) Supervisor Fixed Assets will serve as a key project lead for strategic acquire-to-retire initiatives. This position is accountable for the overall safeguarding of Company intangible and fixed assets through planning, maintaining and enhancing the accounting procedures related to long-lived assets and managing the Oracle Fixed Assets System for all U.S., Canadian and Jamaica divisions. This position will accomplish this control and safeguarding through implementation of the necessary policies, processes, controls and procedures, guaranteeing the timely and accurate recording and tracking of purchased assets and their depreciation allowing senior management and operating division management to effectively evaluate and manage operating results. This position is responsible for managing internal controls as well as the staff who perform tasks essential to these activities. This role requires regular contact with several financial areas of the organization as well as Procurement, Tax, Legal, IT, Audit and BPI. This individual will be entrusted with high dollar and high volume fixed asset activities. In this business services role, the incumbent will have the responsibility of continuing the expansion of business services fixed asset processes and procedures for the North America region. This will include standardization of processes and procedures globally. Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS Supervise the fixed asset teams, driving continuous improvement and departmental efficiencies: Manage departmental change through technology, metrics and employee development Lead and develop financial teams ensuring proper training, goal setting, delegation and accountability Promote transactional lean and process improvement across fixed asset teams Identify and implement changes to enhance reporting, streamline reconciliations and gain efficiencies Work with the divisional finance, Procurement, Tax, Legal, IT, Audit and BPI teams to implement general improvement and time savings initiatives. Assist with organizational changes: Determine appropriate course of action for various ongoing and future projects including departmental initiatives, best of breed implementations, system enhancements/upgrades, and control compliance related to the fixed asset team Act as subject matter expert during acquisitions, global expansion, cross functional FSS activities and system enhancements/upgrades Recommend global fixed asset policies, classifications, depreciation processes and methodologies and present to senior management. Provide expertise to improve departmental operations through identifying trends in reporting: Support future acquisitions and integrations; assist with accounting considerations for systems including Coupa and Oracle. Provide support to fixed sset team members and to divisional accounting teams with financial reporting and analysis Oversight of balancing and month end processes for all US, Canadian and Jamaican divisions in the fixed asset system, ensuring timely capitalization and proper variance/discrepancies resolution.
