A caregiver in this role will work with a team of talented caregivers that provide the most advanced, safest, and clinically proven treatments of the gastrointestinal tract. This team is named one of the top digestive disease centers in the nation, our Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute (DDSI) is the first of its kind to unite all specialists in gastroenterology and hepatology, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, hepato-pancreato-biliary and transplant surgery, and nutrition within one unique, fully integrated model of care. This innovative model of care is aimed at optimizing the patient experience. Our DDSI also has the most successful liver transplants in the United States. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the operating room (OR), you will provide care to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. You will perform scrub and circulating functions and prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for surgery.

A caregiver in this position will complete a 6-month orientation before starting a shift requiring call rotation.

A caregiver who excels in this role, will:

  • Appropriately responds to changes in patients' conditions and takes appropriate action.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.

  • BSN preferred.

  • Current licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).

  • If performing moderate/procedural sedation must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.

  • New grad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
