Ohio Means Jobs Cleveland Cuyahoga County is sourcing for an Accounting Specialist-Billing for a local non-profit organization. Position Summary The Accounting Specialist provides the accounting department with support in the following areas: billing, payables, receivables and financial reporting. Essential Job Responsibilities • Process multiple billings for various partners in a timely manner • Monitor bank transactions related to payables and receivables • Accurately record journal entries and make necessary adjustments • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements • Serve as backup for AR, Payroll, and AP functions • Verify and confirm electronic funds transfers prior to sending funds externally • Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations • Examine accounting records for accuracy, completeness and conformance to department standards • Complete monthly bank reconciliations • Collaborate with internal teams and partners to collect required billing documents for invoice submission • Submit accurate invoices to external organization according to timely filing deadlines Other Job Responsibilities • Actively participates in quality improvement activities of the program/agency • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct in terms of privacy of agency information and adherence to confidentiality policies and upholds the service philosophy • Build and maintain positive relationships with peers and other programs and departments within the organization • Comply with policies and procedures governing the program and agency and consult with appropriate administrative staff regarding issues posing potential risk • Performs other duties as assigned that support the mission of the agency Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities* • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and best practices • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to prioritize and balance work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with high level of responsibility and ownership • Knowledge of financial systems, MIP preferred • Knowledge of payroll systems, Paycom preferred • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) • Knowledge of business practices and accrual accounting • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment Qualification Standards • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline, preferred • 3-5 years of experience in accounting positions; non-profit financial experience preferred • Proficiency in accounting software programs, MIP preferred • Proven experience as an Accounting Specialist with a focus on billing Days-Monday thru Friday 1st shift.
