Cleveland Clinic Executive Director of Revenue Cycle Technology and Innovation in Cleveland, Ohio

The Executive Director of Revenue Cycle Technology and Innovation provides strategic direction, oversight and expertise in technology and innovation for Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) enterprise wide. This leader evaluates the healthcare industry on emerging technology solutions and applies the latest advancements on technology platforms to enhance outcomes and efficiency in RCM. Additionally, this leader partners with other leaders across the organization on technology platforms and workflows that impact RCM to optimize financial performance and ensure compliance.

This leader serves as the core member of the revenue cycle senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice President Revenue Cycle Management and matrix to the Chief Information Officer.

A caregiver who excels in this role, will:

  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise RCM technology and innovation strategy, aligning with organizational objectives and performance targets. Manage the enterprise RCM technology roadmap, identifying opportunities to leverage technology for revenue optimization, workflow efficiencies and process improvements.

  • Lead enterprise RCM's special projects, to include ideating, building business cases, seeking feedback and endorsement, executing, and driving results. Evaluate new technology vendors, expanding analytics capabilities across the global enterprise, and contributing to the achievement of RCM performance objectives.

  • Lead all technology teams reporting to RCM; providing strategic guidance and thought leadership while driving forward the development of new solutions, prioritization of innovative technologies, and alignment with vendor capabilities to ensure enterprise technology strategy is an enabler to RCM, including US and International markets.

  • Be accountable for execution and optimization of all platform technologies supporting RCM in collaboration with technology teams to achieve the best financial outcomes and ensure compliance. Lead team of Business Process Analysts focused on identifying efficiencies in workflows through technology and process solutions; providing strategic direction, thought leadership, execution of technology optimization and projects, and providing guidance necessary for the team's success.

  • Coordinate all Data and Analytics (D&A) team members decentralized to RCM, provide consistent expectations for operational reporting and other key analytics activities. Maintain close relationship with enterprise data teams to ensure RCM receives support necessary to achieve key objectives.

  • Manage relationships with key technology vendors (i.e. Epic, 3M, Experian, etc.) and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that enterprise RCM needs are represented in technology forums and governance meetings. Provide feedback to vendors based on organizational challenges and objectives.

  • Actively engaged in enterprise technology governance across the organization and technology business units that impact RCM, reconciling enterprise strategies and programs (i.e. access transformation, clinical operations, digital) with RCM to ensure alignment of resources, objectives, technology transformation, and enhance financial performance. Additionally, partner with clinical and administrative leaders on technology solutions and workflows that impact upstream and downstream to RCM to optimize revenue and ensure compliance.

  • Strategic thought partner to RCM and ITD leadership while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, lead efforts to evaluate, implement, and adopt innovative healthcare technologies to achieve operational efficiencies and performance goals, ensuring that Cleveland Clinic remains at the forefront of the industry. Identify emerging trends, assess gaps in the current technology stack, and position the organization to capitalize on new opportunities.

  • Perform ongoing evaluation of healthcare and technology industries, identifying trends in new technology and solutions and evaluating them against the mid and long-term strategic objectives of Cleveland Clinic. Position the organization to achieve benefit realization through new technologies and solutions.

  • Oversee department's capital and operational budget, measure budgetary performance and mitigate strategies when needed.

  • Participate in the creation of RCM OKRs, provide thought partnership to how technology solutions can enable the business to achieve its strategic performance targets. Align technology OKRs to RCM OKRs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) or Epic certification in Resolute within first year in position

  • A minimum of 15 years of professional leadership and functionally relevant experience, including demonstrated increasing responsibilities in management experience, preferably in a large healthcare environment

  • Significant leadership experience in RCM and technology, particularly within Epic organizations

  • Proven success in implementing innovative technology solutions to achieve performance objectives in fast-growing healthcare environments

  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare technology landscape, including key vendors like Epic (and its third-party ecosystem), and a demonstrated understanding of RCM operations

Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration or MBA (may offset five years of professional and functionally relevant experience)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and industry credentials in HIMSS, CHIME and/or Data & Analytics

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $87.24

Maximum hourly: $172.29

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. While the pay range is displayed as an hourly rate, Cleveland Clinic recruiters will clarify whether the compensation is hourly or salary. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package, which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision and retirement.
