OMJ|CC OMJ|CC Custodial Staff Teammate in Cleveland, Ohio

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Thoroughly clean and maintain a welcoming ballpark for visitors at Progressive Field. Create an atmosphere that fosters unity and inspiration in our city, ensuring guests can enjoy the game and events with clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Contribute to cleaning and sanitizing all assigned areas of the ballpark
  • Work independently while also collaborating effectively with the custodial team to ensure cleanliness
  • Read, comprehend, and safely use cleaning chemicals
  • Report any maintenance and safety issues immediately to Supervisor
  • Lift and transport tools, boxes, and equipment, typically ranging from 25-50 lbs., depending on the specific requirements of the role
  • Participate in trash pulls and runs throughout various spaces in the ballpark
  • Ability to participate/assist in trash pulls and runs throughout spaces in the Ballpark
  • Stay on duty until the end of the shift and do not depart until the work area is checked by the Supervisor
  • Learn and operate custodial equipment, which may include riding scrubbers, push scrubbers, carpet extractors, bunters, vacuums, wet/dry vacuums, pressure washers, backpack blowers, etc.
  • Promptly monitor all public areas of the ballpark, reporting any matter that requires medical, security, custodial or maintenance personnel using means and methods provided in handbook, in a timely manner, and continue to monitor to ensure satisfactory resolution.  
  • Be available for all scheduled shifts for all both baseball and non-baseball events as scheduled by management (March/April through October/November)
  • Perform all duties as assigned by Supervisors and/or acting Manager-on-Duty

     

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years of age 
  • Required to become member of Service Employees International Union, SEIU 1 
  • Valid driver's license (Required for select positions)  
  • Professionally interact with all guests and employees in a clear and effective manner.   
  • Actively engage and listen to all guests and professionally answer any questions or concerns in a timely manner
  • Trustworthy and dependable
  • Ability to hear, comprehend and disseminate instructions and vital information especially in the event of emergencies
  • Basic computer operating skills (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Internet explorer, ABI, Ultipro)
  • Capability to lift and move tools, boxes, etc., with a weight range of approximately 25-50 lbs., dependent on the specific role

DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiarize yourself with and comprehend the relevant policies and procedures of the Ballpark Services department and the Cleveland Guardians Organization
  • Develop a clear understanding of various departments within the organization and the specific responsibilities of staff members in the department
  • Effectively monitor and implement policies and procedures, maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with guests
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of all areas within the ballpark to provide accurate directions and assistance to guests
  • Maintain a professional appearance in compliance with the Employee Handbook and our uniform requirement

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work vast majority of home games April through October
  • Attend all required trainings and daily briefings
  • Ability to work entire assigned shift, this includes but not limited to pre-events, post-events, and rain delays
