The Sherwin-Williams Company Assistant Chief Engineer Supervisor in Cleveland, Ohio

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: (1) Physical Plant Operations & Maintenance- Working closely with the Chief Engineer, this position contributes to the development and implementation of maintenance/infrastructure-related programs of our Global Headquarters (HQ) location. This is a high-rise, class A, commercial office tower in downtown Cleveland. This position will also be required to be onsite to support business continuity needs, including after hours and weekends. Support the Chief Engineer with the ongoing growth and development of existing predictive and preventative maintenance programs, while maintaining standards with maintenance personnel. Support the duties and obligations of the Chief Engineer in his absence. Work intimately with third party contractors and vendors while on site. Develop and nurture a deep technical understanding and familiarity of all facility systems including structural design, electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, emergency power, and life safety equipment. Contribute to the development and implementation of training programs. Effectively communicate the status of all facilities systems with the Chief Engineer while offering solutions and recommendations that positively support corrective measures. Mentor and train staff in all aspects of facilities function and operations. Directly supervise all repairs, equipment emergencies, and preventative maintenance for a variety of facilities systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, chillers, boilers, etc. Expert knowledge of skilled trades is required. (2) Building Systems and Technology - Maintain expert level proficiency in all building systems, including Building Automation Systems (BAS), Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Fire/Life Safety Systems, and Lighting/Automatic Shade Controls. Organize and regularly update training materials and curriculum. Assist with the training of maintenance staff. Work with skilled trade contractors in the continual improvement and streamlining in the operation and utilization of the BAS and CMMS systems. Analyze and interpret system metrics and data for the continual fine tuning of equipment to ensure optimum efficiency and reliability. Ensure systems' software and programming are up to date and maintained. (3) Project involvement: Support the Chief Engineer with the identification of future facility needs. Conduct relevant research and investigations to help prioritize projects. Keep abreast of the latest technical updates and relevant trends that potentially impact the success of projects. (4) Provide input to Chief regarding maintenance budget and control expenditure. Assist with documentation and reports as required. (5) Maintain positive relationships with peers at alternate sites to identify synergies/efficiencies. (6) Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management. FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: Completion of a comprehensive program focusing on the collective Building Trades including HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical Theory, Steam/hot water boilers, controls, BAS, CMMS, Plumbing, Carpentry, general mechanical skills. Preferred: Associate degree or higher in Engineering, Facilities Operations, other related field, or equivalent education and experience focusing on one or more of the building trades.
