Job Description Summary

The EHS Safety Specialist reports to the Site's EHS Leader and will be responsible for implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety initiatives for the ITI affiliate business, which includes the Power Sensing and Capacitor product lines based in Clearwater, FL.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to employees at the Clearwater FL facility regarding Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) issues

  • Work with Site EHS Leader to support key initiatives

  • Respond to and effectively address employee environmental and safety concerns in a timely manner

  • Drive EHS framework and element owner’s engagement to drive toward VPP status

  • Lead, organize, control and implement: environmental, health, and safety programs and actions plans to reach a comprehensive management system and compliance with regulatory, ITI & GE Standards

  • Initiate and influence integration of EHS policies and practices into the business

  • Develop and maintain specific knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements that affect the business

  • Administer compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems

  • Have the ability to lead cross functional EHS teams to help drive focus area success

  • Assist in monitoring progress and improvement of management and site EHS action plans and metrics

  • Assist in the evaluation, planning and implementation of appropriate EHS program components to include education and training

  • Perform internal site audits and assist in implementing action plans to address gaps

  • Lead the implementation of strategic EHS programs, including programs to drive improvements in environmental management, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, crisis management, as well as programs to reduce work related incidents, injuries, and illnesses

  • Work closely with all functions of the business and at all levels to ensure a safety focused culture

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing Environmental Health & Safety).

  • Minimum of 2 additional years of experience in Manufacturing Environmental Health & Safety.
