The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Southeast Region Klickitat District State Lands. The Teanaway Community Forest is a working forest located on the east side of the Cascades with a strong emphasis on collaborating with multiple partners and meeting multiple objectives.  The *Teanaway Range Specialist (Natural Resource Specialist 1) *will manage the grazing program within the Teanaway Community Forest, implement silviculture and forest health projects, and coordinate projects with other partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Project manager for grazing leases and related activities within the Teanaway Community Forest, silviculture, and forest health projects.
  • Compliance with contracts related to grazing leases, silviculture, and forest health.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in forestry, horticulture, agronomy, agriculture, biology, natural resources management, or closely related field; AND 1 year of professional experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience using tools such as GPS, laser measurement devices, compass, clinometer, and other forestry equipment.
  • Experience using software including ArcGIS, standard office (Word, Excel, etc.) programs and mobile devices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.
