The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is actively seeking Psychiatric Aide Trainees to be a part of our healthcare team at Clarks Summit State Hospital.  The goal of Clarks Summit State Hospital's treatment is to facilitate each person's recovery and return to the community. The Nursing Department is looking for individuals who are willing to learn to become trained and compassionate caregivers and to be an integral part of the therapeutic treatment team services for the people we serve.

 

 

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Aide Trainee is the beginning level position in the Aide series and the work level is that of a training nature. The employee should possess skills, abilities, and basic knowledge and should be able to maintain an understanding attitude toward the care of the Psychiatric. The Aide Trainee should be a responsible person, show initiative, in self-improvement, and express a willingness to learn. They should be able to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and maintain simple records. The employee should possess good mental and physical health and be able to get along with people.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM), 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM), or 3rd shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM), with 30-minute lunch.
  • Works rotating days off, weekends and holidays.
  • May change based on operational needs.
  • Multiple positions may be filled from this posting.
  • Overtime: As needed.
  • Travel: As needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • No previous experience needed, training provided.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.  
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
