For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ Primary Role_ /Responsible// for directing the day-to-day management, development and operation of the production treatment or the distribution and metering of water and/or wastewater operations for the Company./ _ Key Accountabilities_ * Administration, inventory control, supplier relations and contract integrity. * Assists in planning and construction of extensions and improvements to the distribution system. * Provides for meters and meter readings including installation, removal and repair, periodic testing and reading schedules. * Programs and directs the efficient and reliable operation, maintenance, protection and appearance of all water supply facilities, impoundments, watersheds, pumping, treatment, booster and storage facilities and properties. * Assists in planning and construction of new production facilities. * Plans and prepares that portion of the Company budgets within area of responsibility. * Manage employee and labor relations within area of responsibility. May serve as spokesman in union contract negotiations. * Prepares, files and maintains reports and records relating to the production and distribution of water and water service. * Develops a sound organization staffed with able and motivated employees and provides for or trains suitable replacements. * Continue to reinforce the importance of developing a diverse workforce. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with leadership, employees, customers and external stakeholders. * Computer literacy including MS Office, SAP, MapCall. * Strong written and verbal communication. * Familiarity with budgets and accounting. * Demonstrated conflict resolution skills. * Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for long periods of time. * Lift minimum 25lbs. * Occasional hands-on work required. * Knowledge of Water Distribution system operations, Engineering and Construction concepts, Accounting and budgeting principles. * Strong knowledge of safety standards with an emphasis on OSHA requirements for water utility work. * Be interface with regulatory entities and represent company positions as regulatory proceedings and hearings. * Support the Business Development function in the operational analysis pricing and integration of water and wastewater business opportunities. _ Experience/Education_ * Requires a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of undergraduate education and work experience that provides the knowledge and exposure to water distribution system operations, engineering and construction concepts, accounting and budgeting principles and the ability to direct the day-to-day operation of production treatment, distribution and metering of water or waste water operations for American Water. * 4-6 years of supervisory experience in water works or related field, three (3) of which are in distribution. _ Travel Requirements_ * Regular travel within assigned region. * Occasional travel within state/country. _ Work Environment_ * Indoor and outdoor environment. * 24/7 operations. _ Schedule/Hours_ * Full-time * Monday-Friday; day shift * On-call responsibility _ Certifications and Licenses_ * Must be able to obtain a PA DEP Class A and E license * Must possess valid driver’s license. * Certifications/training in safety preferred. _ Competencies_ Prioritizes & Role Models Safety Self-Awareness Develops Talent Plans, Aligns, & Directs Drives Engagement Decision Quality * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.
