Indian Health Service OR Nursing Assistant (Scrub Tech) in Claremore, Oklahoma
Summary These positions are located in Surgical (OR) Department at the Claremore Indian Hospital. The purpose of the positions is to provide surgical scrub technician support for surgical operations ranging from minor surgical procedures to more complex and extensive surgical procedures. The incumbents report to the OR Nursing Supervisor. Responsibilities Use aseptic technique to prepare and maintain the sterile field of the operating room. Select and sterilize supplies, instruments, and special equipment for surgical procedures. Remove and clean soiled linens, equipment, and supplies. Ensure equipment and instruments used during the operative procedure are assembled and set up correctly. Control and monitor internal and external environments through biological testing, product evaluation, and sponge and instrument counts. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must clearly reflect the required education and/or work experience listed below for the grade level you are applying to. Your work experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the type of work and/or tasks as stated below: GS-07: At least one (1) year of specialized experience selecting surgical supplies and instruments for surgical cases as needed; setting up surgical suites as indicated by surgical case; preparing and maintaining the sterile field of the operating room using the principles of aseptic technique. OR One year (18 semester hours) of graduate education in nursing or in a field of study directly related to the work of the position. OR A combination of graduate education and specialized experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only graduate education directly related to the work of the position is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS-07 grade level. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. This is an open until filled position. The first certificate of eligibles will be pulled on 07/08/2024. Subsequent certificates will be pulled every two weeks until the position has been filled. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
