VCA Animal Hospitals Emergency Room Liaison in Clackamas, Oregon

VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a 24- hour Emergency/Critical Care and Specialty Animal Hospital located in Clackamas, Oregon.

We are growing our Emergency and Critical Care service and seeking an Emergency Room Liaison .

As an Emergency Room Liaison, you will be supporting our Doctors and Patient Care team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Our Liaisons are the point person who helps bridge the communication between the emergency staff and the client.

Duties will include:

· Assuring a smooth transition from initial phone call, through patient arrival, triage, treatment and discharge processes.

· Updating clients during every step, as well as maintaining communications with the front desk, technicians, emergency doctors and primary veterinarian as needed.

· Heavy client communication and education. Including presenting and explaining treatment plans and discharging patients to clients.

· Field and facilitate incoming phone calls for the emergency doctor, and provide a point of contact for pet owners, and referring veterinarians.

· Fill prescriptions as needed.

· Assist with owners visiting their hospitalized pets.

· Manage medical records, reports, and log correspondence with clients

· help guide clients dealing with euthanasia by walking them through the process before, and by finalizing afterlife care

· Housekeeping: maintain cleanliness of treatment areas and examination rooms.

· Assist Patient Care Team: patient walks, husbandry, feeding, basic husbandry, etc.

· Facilitate the coordination of stray pets arriving at the hospital, assist with communication, and manage the potential transfer of these animals to appropriate agencies

Qualifications:

· Previous experience working in veterinary facility preferred, but not required.

· Telephone and computer skills are necessary

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds

· Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards animals and their owners

Schedule: Full-time opportunity. We utilize a "4x10" schedule (4-day work week, 10-hour shifts).

Compensation: $24.00/ hr
