Michelman Technician III, Industrial Maintenance - 2nd Shift [3pm-11pm] in Cincinnati, Ohio

General Summary

We have a great opportunity for an Industrial Maintenance Technician III to join our Maintenance team. This hands-on position will be located in Blue Ash. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment around our facilities. Safety is taken extremely seriously, so you will be expected to adhere to all safety procedures and standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Use manual and powered hand tools to complete required maintenance.

  • Request materials for repairs through established internal processes.

  • Maintain facility and process equipment at base condition, to include interior and exterior service requests.

  • Disassemble and assemble process equipment to inspect for repair or replacement due to damage, defects, or wear.

  • Use machining equipment and other shop tools (e.g., welding equipment, saws, air compressors, drill presses), as trained and required.

  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.

  • Analyze test results, performance data, machine error messages, information obtained from operators, and direct observation to diagnose and return equipment to base condition.

  • Adjust process equipment to ensure optimal performance.

  • Operate or test newly repaired process equipment to verify process equipment is at base condition and operating per customer need.

  • Record all work performed in computerized maintenance management system, inclusive of inventory used to complete repair or replacement.

  • Clean, lubricate, inspect, and tighten process equipment components to maintain equipment at base condition.

  • Share ideas to improve site housekeeping, morale, site safety, work quality, customer delivery, parts inventories, and cost effectiveness.

  • Able to perform equipment maintenance tasks that may require bending, stooping, laying down or working from elevated platforms

  • Able to safely operate a forklift

  • Able to use full range of motion with arms, hands and fingers to reach, grasp, hold, push/pull, twist, and work with tools

  • Able to work outside when required

  • Assemble new process equipment per manufacturer and/or engineering instructions.

  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand and/or power tools.

  • Assist skilled construction or extraction personnel.

  • Climb stairs and stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 50 lbs

  • Communicate with other construction or extraction personnel to discuss project details.

  • Comply with company’s training requirements, inclusive of arc flash training.

  • Create construction or installation diagrams.

  • Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.

  • Direct construction or extraction personnel.

  • Enter ladder logic and instructions to program computers and computer-controlled machinery.

  • Estimate construction project costs.

  • Fabricate parts and components.

  • Identify scope of work to order materials, supplies, or equipment.

  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.

  • Maintain compliance with internal and external training requirements.

  • Meet or exceed housekeeping standards in maintenance shop, maintenance office, and assigned work areas.

  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.

  • Order construction or extraction materials or equipment.

  • Perform business management duties, such as maintaining records or files, preparing reports, or ordering supplies or equipment.

  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.

  • Prepare and install electrical components per manufacturer and/or engineering requirements.

  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.

  • Provide preliminary sketches or cost estimates for materials or services.

  • Recognize and report hazards, correcting when possible, and asking for help when unable to correct.

  • Study and interpret blueprints, specifications, or diagrams to inform installation, development or operation activities.

  • Study blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation of machinery.

  • Trace out short circuits in wiring, using test meter.

  • Train construction or extraction personnel.

  • Train others in operational procedures.

  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.

  • Use ladders, scaffolding, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other powered industrial vehicles, as trained and required.

  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time

Critical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience utilizing a CMMS (Computerized maintenance management software) for task documentation

  • Knowledge of Lockout Tagout (LOTO) and confined space entry requirements

  • Proven ability to think independently as part of a team and handle project from conception to completion

  • Proficient in standard business office software

  • Good oral, and written communications skills and has the ability to teach maintenance skills

Education and Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in plant maintenance operations

  • Technical degree or certifications preferred, specifically electrical and/or electronics fields

  • Proficient in instrumentation including flow meters, level sensors, pressure sensors, load cells

  • Experience with motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), starters, power supplies, and transformers

  • Proficient at pipefitting and welding

  • Experience with batch mixing tanks, pressure vessels, extruders, conveyors, boilers, compressors, and general building repair

Work Hours

  • Second shift (Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm)
