The role.

The role of the Project Manager is to plan, implement, and finalize projects according to scope, timeline and budget. This includes advising resources in a matrixed organization and coordinating the efforts of team members to ensure the timely delivery of projects to plan. The PM will also define the project’s objectives, participate in project planning during and after the sales cycle and lead all aspects of quality control throughout its life cycle.

  • Operational excellence in implementing the oPLM process (Operative Product Lifecycle Management) with a heavy focus on project management and multi-functional collaboration.

  • Leads projects with full responsibility for project results in the context of research and development.

  • Drives R&D projects in cooperation with collaborators, especially with Product Managers or Product Owners.

  • Drives project within the defined requirements (e.g. regarding targets for project cost, time, quality, functionality, and customer satisfaction).

  • Supports multi-functional collaboration with SCM (Supply Chain Management) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) teams as required. Ensures visibility on work items and progress in team.

  • This position will report to the oPLM R&D manager with potential to lead direct technical reports.

Responsibilities :

  • oPLM project management and tactical execution of all R&D product development projects from milestones M100 (Project Kickoff) to M300 (Delivery Release). Duties consist of oPLM team selection, technical management of project collaboration scopes, and identifying and implementing tasks/work packages striven to pass through R&D breakthroughs.

  • Serves as the top Norwood oPLM process authority per the company PLM guidelines.

  • Steers budget and resources, as well as generation of the project agreement.

  • Develops detailed, multi-functional R&D project schedules.

  • Ensures alignment to architecture, design, quality guidelines as well as product security and product safety topics.

  • Maintains responsibility of overall oPLM R&D timeline execution and schedule alignment for all R&D projects.

  • Conducts multi-functional meetings with other departments striven to clearly communicate the technical objectives of projects, identify and mitigate potential project risks, and perform project handovers.

  • Documents and coordinates technical information in a clear way, providing assistance to both R&D and non-R&D oPLM team members on their scope of work.

  • Assists in developing the overall R&D strategy (e.g. product portfolio, technology roadmap) for future development work and aligns project targets with R&D strategy.

  • Works with the Product Manager to drive the creation of requirement specifications for individual projects.

  • Implements critical issue procedures as needed to drive project on-time performance.

  • Creates feature specifications and test plan documentation.

  • Facilitates weekly department GEMBA meetings and coordinates internal/external design reviews for all projects.

  • Drives a continuous improvement culture including e.g. reuse, collaboration, knowledge management, lessons learned.

  • Actively participates in collecting and sharing standard processes.

Your profile.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 5+ years successful experience in Product/Development Engineering with a focus on industrial rotating electrical machines.

  • Up to 10% travel required with the potential for some international travel.

  • Must possess excellent communication and organization skills with a background in multi-functional teams.

  • Ability to lead and organize small groups of technical authorities and provide direction as needed.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of project management principles and overall financial KPI’s as they affect new product development.

  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects and areas of knowledge.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Preferred technical experience in three phase induction motors, electric motor manufacturing and large rotating equipment.

  • Preferred experience leading large, sophisticated projects and multi-functional groups.

  • Preferred knowledge of large electrical motor design and related technical problem solving.

The pay range for this position is $87,000 - $149,200. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
