The Senior Therapeutic Physicist participates in the operations of the medical physics group with the clinic. Given the completion of American Board of Radiology certification, its requirements and registration with the State of Ohio as a Certified Radiation Expert, this position, not only participates in the core functions of clinical support, quality assurance, commissioning, special treatment procedures and treatment planning, but also provides oversite, input and review, thereby ensuring the department achieves standards set by the AAPM, ACR, ODH or other standards bodies. Furthermore, this position requires not only competence by also expertise in all aspects of operating the facility. If the Director of Medical Physics is not available, the Senior Therapeutic Medical Physicist has achieved a level of competence and independence that allows this role to serve the clinic as an acting director in clinically impactful decision-making.
