Join us to shape the future of healthcare as progressive pharmacy professionals and researchers. Job Overview The Cosmetic Science Laboratory Manager position is in the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy and involves overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of our cosmetic laboratory facility and provide instructional support for online courses by facilitating them as needed. As the laboratory manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating week-long and semester-long graduate level laboratory courses in cosmetic science that are offered every semester (formulation lab, color cosmetics lab and fragrance lab).The laboratory manager will be responsible for maintaining the operation of all laboratory equipment and supplies while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. These include typical mixers and other standard equipment used for making cosmetic products. It also includes maintaining and calibrating analytical and clinical testing instruments. In addition to these regular responsibilities, there will also be opportunities for conducting unique company-sponsored research projects on an ad-hoc basis. Essential Functions Oversee the overall functioning of the cosmetic laboratory, ensuring efficient and smooth operations. Facilitate relevant online courses, lectures, homework, and exams that are created by course instructors and manage such courses during the semester. Develop and implement laboratory SOPs and procedures to ensure adherence to best practices, safety standards, and regulations. Manage all laboratory equipment, including maintenance, calibration, and inventory management. Monitor and order laboratory supplies, chemicals, and materials as needed. Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and students to facilitate research projects in the field of cosmetics. Assist in experimental design, protocol development, batch records, and troubleshooting to ensure accurate and reliable results. Provide guidance and training on laboratory techniques and procedures to students and faculty. Host tours and demonstrations for visitors. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including hazardous waste disposal, chemical storage, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, identifying and addressing potential hazards. Maintain accurate records of safety protocols, incidents, and training documentation. Develop and manage the laboratory budget, ensuring optimal utilization of funds and resources.
