This faculty will assist with Chemistry, Special Chemistry, and testing that overlaps Chemistry and Infectious Disease. Other areas of opportunity include Pre-analytics, Point of Care testing, and reference laboratory testing, including the support and development of laboratory stewardship initiatives. The clinical laboratories at CCHMC perform over 6.1 million tests per year. The faculty will be responsible for policies and procedures and for the consultative and support services that relate to safe and effective patient care. The faculty will work closely with the Section Director of Chemistry, other Lab Medicine faculty colleagues, the administrative staff of the Clinical Laboratories (which includes a Quality Management team), medical technology staff, customer service staff, lab processing staff, and the laboratory's specimen collection staff to ensure high-quality service to the patients, families. The faculty will ensure compliance with College of American Pathologists (CAP) standards and governmental regulations, provide consultative service and communication to the staff and users of the clinical laboratories, and, to advance research and development related to laboratory testing. The applicant must have completed a fellowship in Clinical Chemistry (or have equivalent clinical chemistry experience) and be a PhD or MD/DO who is board certified or board eligible in their field. MD/DO candidates must be eligible for an Ohio medical license. Experience with serology and other infectious disease testing, and pediatric laboratory medicine are preferred, but not necessary. The applicant must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills and be able to function well within the highly collaborative environment at Cincinnati Children's where interdivisional, interdepartmental, and inter-institutional cooperation is essential. The applicant must excel at teaching and must actively support an educational program that serves medical students, medical technology students, residents, fellows, laboratory staff, and clinical staff.
