MHealth Fairview Northeast Clinics is looking for a Casual Medical Laboratory Technician. Primary sites are: M Health Fairview Clinic - North Branch (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---north-branch) , M Health Fairview Clinic - Wyoming (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---wyoming) , M Health Fairview Clinic - Chisago City (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---chisago-city) , and M Health Fairview Clinic - Blaine (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---blaine) , with opportunities at M Health Fairview Clinic - Hugo (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---hugo) , M Health Fairview Clinic - Stillwater (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---stillwater) , and M Health Fairview Clinic - Vadnais Heights (https://mhealthfairview.org/locations/m-health-fairview-clinic---vadnais-heights) . No set schedule. Hours will vary with starting times beginning at 6:30am and shifts ending at 8:30pm. Weekend hours are available at our North Branch Urgent Care location. Schedule may change to meet the needs of the department.

Responsibilities Job Description

The MLT plays an important role in providing quality, proficient and professional laboratory services to diverse populations within an ambulatory healthcare environment. The Medical Laboratory Technician performs waived, moderate, or high complexity testing, correlates data-based knowledge of technical and instrumental conditions affecting testing results and performs quality control procedures within established parameters. This position also may be involved in laboratory specimen collection, safe and secure specimen handling, ensuring efficient workflow and may schedule tests and provides results as appropriate. The MLT works independently under general supervision.

Job Expectations: follow established guidelines to obtain specimens, perform testing and report results, consistently implement and adhere to the laboratory customer service standards. The standards include promoting teamwork, successful communication, and conflict resolution, supports and adheres to laboratory SOPs, quality assurance, performance improvement and compliance programs recognizing trends and identifying when additional reporting, communication or other action is appropriate. Demonstrates competency and compliance with all regulatory agency policies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution. Qualified to work in a highly complex laboratory as mandated in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA)

  • Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved laboratory certification such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT. If not certified at time of hire, must acquire certification within 12 months.

  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience as a MLT in an ambulatory or acute healthcare environment

Other Required Skills

  • Good phlebotomy skills.
