Physician Practice Coordinator - Healthcare Clinics

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Responsible for all activities in the Clinic accounts receivable function. Manages billing and collection activities such as sending follow-up inquiries, negotiating with past due accounts, and referring accounts to collection agencies. Maintains accurate records. Audits methods and procedures of accounts receivable function to improve efficiency and cash flow. Ensure maximum cash collection and consistent cash flow. Strong understanding of EHR/EMR systems. Knowledge of athena health EHR/EMR platform is highly desirable.

Revenue Cycle

  • Responsible for various activities in the clinic accounts receivable function.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of physician coding and billing to ensure compliance with relevant regulation, standards, and directives from regulatory agencies and third-party payers.

  • Reviews claims to make sure that payer specific requirements are met.

  • Manages billing and collection activities such as follow-up inquiries, balance collections, and past-due account negotiation.

  • Audits methods and procedures of AR function to ensure accuracy and improve efficiency and cash flow.

    Athena Administration

  • Operates as a line of support for the Athena Health EHR.

  • Performs problem analysis and issue resolution regarding Athena EHR. Communicates issues to Athena via phone or online support ticket system.

  • Improves functionality

  • Perform problem analysis and issue resolution.

    Other Various Duties

  • Assists the Clinic Finance Manager with tracking of provider productivity and referral trends.

  • Assists the clinic administration team with various duties as assigned.

    Education:

    High school diploma required; graduation from an accredited college or university with an undergraduate degree (e.g. BS or AA) in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred.

    Experience:

    Experience in healthcare billing, coding, and receivables preferred. Work record that demonstrates in-depth knowledge of healthcare billing and reimbursement, knowledge of medical terminology, negotiating skills, and knowledge of healthcare industry financial statistical information.

    Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

    Principles and practices of patient accounting, insurance reimbursement, governmental and other payer source billing, credit and collections, cashiering and admitting. Knowledge of functions, capabilities and operation of computer-based billing and patient accounts management systems.

    Requires sufficient knowledge in the use of basic computer software. Must use software to develop spreadsheets for analytical purposes.
