The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. Job Description:

Sales Manager Duties:

  • Sell the Hotel Guest Rooms, Meeting/Banquet facilities and maintain all existing accounts through telephone calls, on site visits, off site sales calls, trace system, community events and trade shows.

  • Book and follow through of all groups, meeting and banquets with appropriate contracts and trace system.

  • Identify and develop new accounts in the assigned market segments. Continually qualify and requalify new and existing accounts.

  • Respond to all room sales leads and inquires.

  • Works with General Manager and Operations Manager to maintain corporate rate structure.

  • Supervise set-up and inspect all finished arrangements for all meetings/banquets

  • Work closely with clients on function planning and reflect such through written confirmation of events for pricing, attendance numbers, menu/bar selections, music, decorations etc.

  • Perform monthly inspections on banquet facility and meeting rooms. Assign maintenance and housekeeping duties based on findings.

  • Tour event coordinators/interested clients through whole hotel property including sleeping rooms.

  • Send evaluation forms to guests and respond in a timely manner. Report all comments to General Manager.

  • Construct an agenda for required weekly Sales meetings with the General Manager and follow requirements set by Management Company

  • Attend corporate and community events where deemed necessary.

  • Do all banquet/meeting room billing

  • Responsible for ordering of new equipment, furniture, linens and decorations upon General Manager’s approval.

  • Performs maintenance on property management system and inspects third party web sites for accuracy with hotel information.

  • Daily, reviews rate and room inventory management procedures. Oversees all front desk sales and daily requirements. Daily reviews all staffing levels and department activities.

  • Insures implementation of all sales and marketing programs and requirements. Actively works in meeting sales goals, forecasting occupancy and ADR, establishing a monthly sales and marketing plan, attending local events, participates in outside sales calls. Effectively implements approved advertising and marketing.

Assistant General Manager Duties:

  • Assists in the management of the hotel’s operations, maintaining established cost and quality standards. Is responsible for the maintenance and security of the hotel’s assets. Local marketing of the hotel’s products and services. Development of the hotel’s human resources.

  • Enforces hotel and department policies and procedures established by Management Company. This includes monthly department checks for meeting required work and documentation.

  • Directs daily, weekly and monthly accounting and required reports for all departments in the absence of the General Manager. Bank deposits are to be made daily, Monday – Friday, and sales spreadsheet is to be accurately completed daily. Must verify all night audit files on a daily basis for accuracy.

  • Must be accomplished in careful analytics of all reports and educating all key employees. Evaluates housekeeping daily / daily to ensure housekeeping is following standards and appropriate operations.

  • Code and scan invoices to be paid to corporate office daily in the absence of the General Manager. Performs maintenance on property management system and inspects third party web sites for accuracy with hotel information.

  • Direct weekly department head and sales and marketing meetings following Management Company guidelines in the absence of the General Manager. Safety meetings are to be held monthly. Monthly financial and budget reviews are to be held with each department head. All meetings are to follow Management Company’s procedures and guidelines. All meetings are to be documented using proper forms.

  • AGM must be proficient in analyzing financials including operating statements, income statements and cash flow budgets. Hotel costs must be understood in terms of departments, coding of costs, and understanding costs goals and percentages in relationship to sales and cost per occupied room.

  • Responsible for establishing proper levels of labor in all departments in the absence of the General Manager. Required to have a manager’s schedule and departmental schedules available for observation for all necessary employees.

  • MOD reports are to be completed by a manager on duty whenever GM is absent from the hotel for the entire day. These reports are to be kept for inspection and review.

  • Responsible for auditing direct bill balances and the proper collection of balances. Ensure statements are sent out the first of each month.

  • Inspects compliant log daily for compliance and any issues that need addressed. Incident logs are to be checked daily for compliance and any issues that need to be addressed. This includes loss and incident reports. Review comment cards.

  • Room inspections are to be completed, at least 18 rooms per week.

  • Insures proper care, maintenance and security of all hotels furnishing, fixtures and equipment."

Job Requirements:

  • 2 Years of Hotel Sales

  • Weekends required

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

  • Knowledge of Marsha and OneSource
