About the Job The City of Chicopee\'s Department of Public Works - Water Division is hiring a Water System Maintenance Craftsman that performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled manual work in the construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of a water system including water mains, service connections, hydrants, meters, and valves. Qualifications To be minimally qualified, one must meet the following criteria: High School Diploma or Equivalent Two years\' experience as a Water Systems Maintenance Worker Working knowledge of a wide variety of hand tools, air tools and hydraulic tools MA CDL Class B License Required (CDL Class A preferred) Massachusetts Water License Grade 1 Required Licenses (If Applicable) MA CDL Class B (Class A Preferred) & Water Distribution License Grade 1 Required Essential Duties Include Install and repair water mains and appurtenances. Install and repair water service connections. Operate, clean, and maintain tapping and drilling machines. Operate, clean, and maintain pumping equipment used in the installation and maintenance of water mains and service connections. Repairs trenches and excavations by patching with bituminous and concrete materials. Installs, maintains, repairs and \"winter checks\" fire hydrants. Install and/or remove domestic, commercial, and industrial meters. The ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to rain, extreme heat, extreme cold, rugged landscape. Must be available to assist with snow removal operations, not only during normal working hours but also available evenings, weekends, and holidays. Maintains material stock on utility truck as directed by the supervising authority. Other duties as assigned per the full job description. Salary/Compensation Employment Status: UFCW Laborer\'s Union, Non-Exempt; Full-Time Salary: Grade 06L, Step 05 - Starting at \$18.36 per hour + Licenses Expected Hours of Work This is a Full-Time, 40-hour per week position, with a schedule of 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
