City of Chicopee Library Associate Position Title: Library Associate Department: Chicopee Public Library Employment Status Non-Exempt; Full-Time, UFCW Admin Salary: Grade A02, Step 1, \$17.63 per hour Certifications/Licenses: N/A SUMMARY The City of Chicopee\'s Public Library is hiring a Library Associate that performs a variety of library circulation and clerical procedures with a high degree of public contact. Specific duties may vary due to grade and/or location. SOME ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE - Charges, discharges, and renews books, and other library holdings at the public service desk using an automated circulation system. - Receives Incoming calls providing routine information or refers and transfers calls. - Greets visitors at the library. - Assists customers with directional-type questions and refers inquiries to reference services. - Registers patrons for library cards. - Follows prescribed routine in receiving compensation for overdue, damaged, or lost library items. - Assists with opening/closing procedures. - Provides statistics as required. - Sorts materials into bins for Interlibrary loan, as needed. - Sorts materials for re-shelving and re-shelves materials as needed. - Operates a variety of standard office and library machines. - Retrieves and processes materials placed on hold by patrons. - Assists in assuring accurate library shelving by shelf-reading and re-shelving of materials, as needed. - Organizes work according to established procedures. - Performs related work as required. QUALIFICATIONS Associate\'s or Bachelor\'s Degree. - Preferred Prior Library experience. - Preferred Experience using C/WMARS circulation system. - Preferred High School Diploma or Equivalent.
