Craftsman - Electrician Chicopee Public Schools *Maintenance - Chicopee, Massachusetts Open in Google Maps Job Details Job ID:4919157 TITLE: Craftsman- Electrician TYPE: Non-Union, Cycle I SALARY: Per the Terms of Employment for Non-Union Personnel, Cycle I REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Install electrical systems and/or make repairs to electrical equipment, heating systems and like items in accordance with the normal practices of the electrical trade. Troubleshoot, repair, replace alarm systems for fire and safety in school and City buildings in accordance with National Fire and Safety Codes. Make minor to complex repairs to mechanical units, remotes, I/O equipment, CPU\'s and software systems. Operate stationary boilers and associated equipment, including oil or gas burning boilers. Operate, maintain and make minor repairs when necessary on all equipment, including blowers, pumps, compressors, etc. Perform routine testing of equipment as required by State or Local inspection and proper operation of the equipment. Performs scheduled, routine preventive maintenance and safety tests on a variety of equipment/systems by inspecting, adjusting, cleaning, and calibrating systems and checking out equipment to ensure it\'s in satisfactory working order. Assist with the startup of new basic mechanical equipment or system installation and makes adjustments as needed to make the system operational. May plan schedules, and lay out basic electrical equipment installations and assist in the startup and check out of new system installations. Perform and assist with engineering, planning, scheduling and installing simple to complex systems or modifications to existing systems. Interpret specifications, read blue prints. Assists in estimates, technical correspondence and reports. Conducts effective energy audits and equipment surveys as assigned. Responds to emergency service calls with 24/7 availability as directed. Analyzes, troubleshoots, repairs and restores equipment/systems to full operation and recommends revisions when necessary for effectiveness. Alerts the Director of Maintenance to equipment/systems requiring further analysis or potential replacement. Responds to snow removal calls with 24/7 availability as directed. Operate a snow plow, sander, and skid steer loader safely and completely. Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Electrical Journeyman\'s License Five years? electrical experience Mechanical experience preferred Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Local and State Building Codes and Laws, as well as insurance regulations. Complete and comprehensive knowledge of energy management systems, computer program knowledge and experience to operate school and City energy systems for optimum efficiency. Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and ability to work from oral and written instructions. Ability to make estimates of time and material. Ability to operate a skid steer loader and well-versed in operating snowplow removal equipment such as snow blowers and snow plows. Ability to work collaboratively with all district personnel and students. Strong communication, job coordination and organizational skills.
