We currently have an exciting opportunity for Business Analyst to join the Network and Portfolio Management team. The Underwriting Analyst reports to the Head of Network & Portfolio Management and supports the network expansion and portfolio management strategy for types of site acquisitions and New to Industry (NTI) locations for the bp network.

You will assist with the analytics, underwriting, and due diligence activity to support and optimize the company's market growth plans. The role requires an ability to work cross-functionally with various teams, including finance, real estate, and operations, to ensure that portfolio decisions are both commercially viable and operationally sustainable. The Underwriting Analyst will also assist with analyzing post project evaluations.

In addition, you may be asked to assist with property management type activities, which include lease administration, lease abstracts, new landlord set-ups and other functions that may be required from time to time by the department.

Essential Job Duties

As an Underwriting Analyst within bp's Network and Portfolio Management team, your primary role will be to support the analysis, development, and implementation of various projects that contribute to the company’s growth and network expansion. Here's a detailed breakdown of what you will deliver:

  • Assist with Day-to-Day Execution of Network and Portfolio Management Projects: support the execution of key projects, ensuring their success by assisting with the analysis and development of strategies. Contribute to the planning, coordination, and monitoring of these projects to ensure they align with bp's long-term business objectives and deadlines.

  • Support Activities for Acquisition Sourcing, Selection, and Due Diligence - help with sourcing, selecting, and conducting due diligence on potential acquisition opportunities. Provide analytical support by evaluating site data, performing risk assessments, and assisting in evaluating the financial and operational viability of acquisition targets.

  • Analyze Information and Develop Recommendations - support data analysis and help formulate actionable insights for decision-making. Work on gathering relevant information, formulating hypotheses based on the data, testing them, and developing well-structured recommendations that inform the acquisition and portfolio strategies.

  • Assist with Executive-Level Presentations - Help prepare presentations for bp's executive committee to secure approval for new acquisitions and projects. Contribute to the creation of presentations that clearly summarize key analyses, findings, and recommendations. Ensure that the data is presented clearly to guide executive decision-making.

  • Review and Monitor Progress of Projects - track the progress of ongoing projects to ensure timely completion. Review project milestones and deliverables, ensuring that they are completed on schedule and in accordance with the defined business requirements. Help flag any potential issues or delays early.

  • Direct Communication Contact for Business Unit Leaders - Serve as the main point of contact between business unit leaders and the Network and Portfolio Management team. Ensure smooth and clear communication between all parties, keeping business unit leaders informed on project developments, decisions, and progress.

  • Coordinate with Senior Leaders for Updates and Present Analysis - Work closely with senior leadership to deliver project updates and analytical insights. Prepare reports and analysis for senior leaders, providing them with timely updates on the progress of initiatives and any critical information needed to make strategic decisions.

  • Partner with Finance Team to Track Post-Opening Success - measure and track the success of newly opened stores against the initial business case. Collaborate with the finance team to evaluate store performance post-opening, compare actual results to projections, and identify areas for optimization and improvement.

  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned - flexibly support additional tasks as required by the team or leadership. Take on additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned, ensuring that the team's goals are met and business needs are fulfilled.
