Summary:

The Vice President, Medical Group Operations (VP, MGO) is responsible for managing all direct operational aspects of the planned integrated medical group. The VP, MGO provides leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that RUSH Medical Group achieves the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operational efficiency.

The VP, MGO must be a fast learner, thrive in dynamic organizations, and bring innovation as well as a culture of accountability. In addition, this leader will be a results-oriented individual who can achieve success in a highly complex, matrixed, and growing organization. The VP, MGO will be comfortable collaborating with physicians as well as executives and will possess outstanding communication and influencing skills.

EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Track record of success in standardizing and streamlining operations, preferably across multiple, disparate medical groups, ultimately reducing costs and improving profits.

  • Self-motivated and execution-oriented with a high degree of comfortability with autonomy and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated excellent financial competence and operational rigor as well as exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.

  • Original thinker that develops innovative approaches and ideas; meets challenges with resourcefulness, generates suggestions for improving work, and course correction when necessary.

  • Exceptional people management and motivational skills and a track record of successfully leading and building motivated, high-performing teams.

EDUCATION

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, Healthcare or related field is required.

  • master’s degree is highly preferred.

  • Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a business partner to the President, RMG and other key executives within RUSH. The VP, MGO will be an integral member of the senior leadership team and will be involved in shaping and executing all medical group operational decisions.

  • Lead the development of appropriate infrastructure within the unified medical group to create standardized processes and operational efficiencies, maximization of current financial performance, maintenance of the highest standard of quality and care, and support of the overall growth strategy.

  • Partner with the President, RMG and the rest of the leadership team to further execute the RUSH strategic plan for operating in a dynamic growth environment including long- and short-term operating objectives and clear accountability metrics.

  • Foster a collaborative environment to encourage efficient administrative support for clinicians and leadership across the enterprise to ensure satisfaction and quality care. The successful candidate must possess exceptional EQ.

  • Demonstrate understanding of inpatient and outpatient quality and safety metrics, implementation, and monitorization of quality performance for members of the medical group.

  • Support a culture of positive clinician engagement, retention, recruitment, and growth.

  • Drive improvements to current programs and develop new program initiatives. Provide leadership to senior management offering advice, guidance, and direction on business matters, including operational policies and procedures, and new business initiatives. Foster a success-oriented and accountable environment.

  • Actively seek and prepare responses for new business opportunities, as well as contribute to new business presentations. Identify opportunities to increase value-added services to current contracts.

  • Display intensity and enthusiasm, expect superior performance from co-workers, and deliver on established expectations.

  • Serve as communication liaison among operating business units and the President, RMG to ensure a continuous flow of information between and among all areas of responsibility. Regularly consult with senior leadership to identify areas for cooperation, collaboration, and integration. Confer on a regular basis with other functional executives on progress toward goals and adjust operating plans, as appropriate.

  • Conduct monthly meetings devoted to operational effectiveness, access utilization, policy discussions and decision-making, budget allocations and projections, strategic planning, progress review and future vision. Establish agenda priorities in consultation with senior management, design process to achieve meeting objectives.

  • Direct operational initiatives to effectively grow business and ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. Work closely and proactively with management to ensure that financial expectations and resource allocations complement projections of the budget and goals.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned, particularly in the realm of operating plans that enhance the corporation’s ability to meet current and future goals within budget constraints.
