BMO Financial Group US Commercial Banking Credit Associate in Chicago, Illinois

Attention to detail. Quickly incorporates feedback and training. Ability to gain efficiencies as routine tasks are performed by using organizational tools.

This role will primarily perform portfolio monitoring and underwriting to facilitate credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policies & Procedures. Associates are also responsible for :

  • Consistently producing clear and concise credit correspondences that accurately reflect the loan structure, identifies and mitigate credit risks and highlights key issues specific to the transaction and Sponsor.

  • Identifying, assessing and articulating sources of repayment.

  • Understanding borrower types and their relation to collateral ownership, loan repayment, loan structure, etc

  • Exercising credit qualification credentials to promote accurate and timely portfolio monitoring consistent with loan agreement.

  • Identifying trends in client activities or financial performance which may be predictive of deteriorating credit quality and either mitigate or escalate, as needed.

  • Performs periodic reviews of credit where more frequent monitoring may be appropriate.

  • Minimizing BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to credit underwriting and portfolio monitoring.

  • Assisting in proposing and negotiating loan terms.

  • Supporting the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Providing input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.

  • Building effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

  • Exercising judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

  • Working independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.

  • Being receptive to constructive feedback and making necessary changes to improve performance.

  • Maintains and promotes a customer service environment which meets and exceeds customer needs and expectations.

  • Identifying new sales opportunities for prospects and existing commercial clients through analysis.

  • Participating in client visits with other internal stakeholders.

  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Qualifications:

  • Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2-3 yrs commercial lending experience

  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.

  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth.

  • Collaboration & team skills - In-depth.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth.

  • Influence skills - In-depth.

  • Data driven decision making - In-depth.

Salary:

$67,200.00 - $124,800.00

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
