POSITION SUMMARY:

The successful Temporary HR Project Manager will work directly with clients to analyze business problems and design processes/solutions that address them. Additionally, this person will work closely with our HRIS team members to creatively leverage technology to support processes as part of the overall solution design. The Project Manager will play an instrumental role in planning, resourcing, scheduling, and executing concurrent large, mid and small-scale initiatives. Driving continuous improvement and change management will also be critical for this role.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Translate strategic opportunities into actionable and measurable work

  • Drive continuous improvement mindset and activities

  • Ensure and/or lead the execution of special projects and ongoing services provided by HR through effective project management

  • Provide close coordination of mergers and acquisitions, collaborating closely with HR partners and project managers of other Kemper functions involved in integrations

  • HR vendor oversight and control plans

  • Expertise in identifying technology-related solutions that could streamline/support process design and digital transformation efforts

  • Manage and mitigate excessive resourcing and other risk in HR processes, strategies, and projects, including managing and responding to corporate audit requirements and action items

  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work

  • Identify data, measures, or indicators of system/process performance and the actions needed to improve or correct

  • Develop and deliver communication messaging and training to build clarity and commitment and enable broader participation in new processes

  • Maintain visibility into workflows throughout HR and identifies opportunities for greater efficiency and quality

  • Ensures that knowledge and information flow occur appropriately among all interdependent functions within and outside of HR

  • Communicate to customers with regards to projects and improvements and what they can expect

  • Train and mentor staff

Position Qualifications:

  • BA, BS, or equivalent experience; or master’s in business or engineering preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred (Green or Black Belt)

  • Experience/understanding of Agile approaches and methodologies

  • Project Management certification preferred

  • 5 plus years of related work experience and approximately 4 years of related work experience providing advisory services in leading Project and Portfolio Management process design work in the following areas: Assessments, Process Design, Capability Roadmap Development, PMO Setup & Operations, Data Framework, Design and Automation, and Digital Enablement.

  • Three or more years of management/supervisory experience.

  • Strong communication skills, especially around breaking down complex structures into digestible and relevant points for a diverse set of clients and colleagues, at all levels

  • Effective and efficient organization and planning skills with the proven ability to manage complex multi-workstream performance improvement projects or multiple concurrent client engagements, while delegating and overseeing the work of junior team members (informed, effective, and timely decision making)

  • • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills required to synthesize complex data sets and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and trends to implement recommendations resulting in measurable performance improvement and successful organizational change

  • Ability to collaborate with team members and client counterparts to understand business challenges, adapt implementation methodologies and approaches to ensure results align with client's business objectives

  • Self-starter with strong organization skills capable of serving as not only as a project leader, but also as a team player on special projects working with all levels of management, including non-HR disciplines

  • Team leadership experience including building talent, training, supervising, coaching/mentoring, and performance management

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Smart Sheets, MS Teams, SharePoint, MS Project, Visio and various Lean/Six Sigma tools

  • The range for this position is $77,100 to $128,500. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is also eligible for our Kemper benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)

  • This position will work hybrid out of our Chicago, IL office
