Description
Are you an experienced Project Manager ready to lead impactful projects from concept to completion in the renewable energy sector? We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead multi-discipline engineering teams and play a central role in delivering innovative projects—ranging from thermal generation to offshore wind, energy storage, distributed generation/microgrids, utility-scale solar, onshore wind, and transportation electrification.
Your Opportunity
In this role, you will serve as the Project Manager—leading client engagement, driving project delivery, and overseeing the full lifecycle of projects and programs. From establishing client relationships and building pursuit strategies to assembling pursuit teams, leading proposals, winning work, and executing through close-out, you will be accountable for project success at every stage. You will lead and leverage multidisciplinary teams for effective execution, ensuring all work is delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with our project management framework and quality standards.

Your Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Decision-Making
Manage the full lifecycle of projects and programs: initiating client engagement, leading pursuit teams, driving proposal development, securing wins, and managing execution to successful completion.
Ensure projects adhere to the organization’s project management framework and standards, including schedule, scope, cost, and quality.
Execute and, when needed, personally manage diverse project types while maintaining a focus on renewable energy markets.
Establish strong project governance, ensuring clear communication and accountability among cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Client Development & Business Growth
Drive business development initiatives by leveraging deep industry connections and market knowledge.
Lead client pursuits and cultivate long-term relationships that align with strategic business goals.
Represent the firm in industry events and client meetings to expand visibility and opportunity pipelines.
Team Building & Leadership
Act as a people leader, responsible for coaching and guiding multi-discipline teams and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
While this role will initially have no direct reports, the expectation is to build and lead a team of project managers around you.
Collaborate with technical discipline leads to ensure effective project delivery, mentorship, and resource management.
Foster cross-functional collaboration across diverse teams, disciplines, and geographies.
Establish and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring that service delivery exceeds expectations and contributes to long-term partnerships.
Support client engagement efforts by coaching and mentoring staff to enhance client satisfaction and trust.
Risk Management & Sustainability
Identify and mitigate risks proactively through strong planning, forecasting, and oversight of people, process, and systems.
Implement project controls, track KPIs, and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practices.
Promote sustainability and innovation in all project execution phases.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, proactively identifying potential execution gaps in people, processes, and systems.
Champion sustainability and environmental best practices, ensuring all projects align with industry-leading standards.
Identify emerging risks and develop strategies to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
Technology & Process Improvement
Lead process optimization efforts to improve project execution, implementing digital tools and automation where beneficial.
Mentor and train project teams in best practices, methodologies, and emerging trends in project management.
Continuously seek opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in energy project delivery.

Experience in business development, proposal structuring, budgeting, and financial analysis for energy projects.
Understanding of multi-discipline engineering services related to renewable energy and power generation projects.
Ability to balance technical expertise with strategic business objectives, ensuring projects align with company goals.
Industry Expertise
Experience managing utility-scale renewable energy projects with knowledge of multiple delivery models (EPC, DBB, ECI).
Deep understanding of the energy market and emerging trends in the clean energy transition.
Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
Your Education and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in power generation projects, including Owner’s Engineer roles and detailed engineering/design.
Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, proposal structuring, and project leadership as a "seller-doer."
Hands-on experience with various project delivery models such as EPC (Engineer Procure Construct), DBB (Design Bid Build), and ECI (Early Contractor Involvement).
Strong technical background in utility-scale renewable energy projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Teams and SharePoint, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel being beneficial.
Position will primarily work in an office setting. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
Salary Range(s):
- $114,000 - $171,600 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
