ABOUT THE ROLE

HUB’s dynamic and growing Technology and Operations Delivery PMO has an opportunity for a project manager to step in and lead high-performing teams on mission critical, enterprise-changing initiatives. The successful candidate will be an A+ communicator who is ready for the spotlight, welcomes challenges, and always drives for the best business outcome. Seeking a leader who will bring a perspective, contribute to the intellectual strength of the Technology and Operations Delivery PMO team, and work with a mindset of continual improvement. Must show track record of career growth and ability to articulate the business value of the projects and programs they have led.

This is an individual contributor role but experience as a team manager with a focus on growing and developing people is helpful and welcome. This leader will have primary responsibility for delivery as well as opportunities for shaping and managing demand, working with business counterparts to develop solutions and build business cases. Full command and in-depth experience across waterfall development methodology is required. Strong background in agile methodologies is strongly desired. This is a next-level opportunity for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex, high visibility initiatives, toward achieving critical IT-enabled business objectives

  • Develop in-depth understanding of HUB's business goals in order to plan and execute effective project delivery strategy

  • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members across multiple simultaneous initiatives

  • Create collaborative environment among business teams, internal IT teams, and vendors

  • Hold vendors and strategic partners accountable for delivering the scope, timeline, and business benefits as promised in statements of work

  • Understand and anticipate the priorities of the business through building productive working relationships with HUB business colleagues

  • Develop high level of IT organizational agility; understand HUB's enterprise solutions and pursue effective relationships with the IT teams that support and enhance these solutions

  • Manage key stakeholders; communicate critical project information, and actionable insights, to the right stakeholders at the right time

  • Implement course correction measures at initial signs of trouble to ensure healthy scope, schedule, budget, and business value

  • Coordinate with business liaisons and organizational change management resources to ensure end-user impacts are properly communicated and adopted

  • Build relationships with IT Operations teams to coordinate on smooth transition into production

  • Collaborate with Technology and Operations Delivery PMO colleagues on team initiatives to enhance PMO delivery methodologies; grow organizational capabilities across both traditional waterfall and agile delivery approaches

  • Contribute to project intake process; help manage incoming demand; help develop business cases

  • Primary contacts include: CIO/CTO, Director - Technology Business Management, IT steering committee, Finance leadership, IT leadership team and staff and Business unit executives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, computer science, information systems, business administration or related field. In lieu of degree, an equivalent amount of relevant work experience will be considered.

  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience working in key roles on major delivery initiatives

  • At least 5-years’ experience acting in the lead delivery role on projects or programs, which are highly complex, large, and central to enterprise strategy

  • Effectively delivered initiatives that have had disruptive impact on high number of users

  • Passionate about delivering business value to business partners and end-users

  • Customer centric mindset that anticipates business needs and responds positively to feedback

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple complex projects that vary in scope and size

  • Ability to lead and motivate others, demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types

  • Experience managing multiple executive stakeholders

  • Successfully held vendors accountable for delivery

  • Excellent writing & interpersonal communication skills

  • Excellent at presentation and persuasion; know how to adjust message for the audience

  • High aptitude for explaining complex concepts to executive and business audiences

  • Desire to learn

  • Experienced in standard (waterfall) delivery methodology

  • Proficiency in MS Project, MS Office Suite, and Sharepoint

Desired Qualifications:

  • People management responsibilities on a PMO or a software development team

  • Consultancy experience (not necessarily from the Big 4)

  • Agile development experience

  • Business process design and business analysis experience

  • Digital product management background

  • PMP Certified

  • Experience leading change management initiatives

  • Insurance background

Although Chicago hybrid is preferred, candidates in the US will be considered.
