Our onsite Program Management team in Chicago, IL is looking to add an experienced Senior Project Manager – Capital Improvements in support of a multi-billion-dollar capital program for a major hub airport. The capital program will be completed in conjunction with a concurrent multi-billion-dollar airport capital redevelopment program. All work occurs in the middle of an active airport. This position allows for the opportunity to be a major contributor to the growth of one of the busiest airports in the world as part of the program management team.

As the lead for the capital improvements team you’ll provide day-to-day management of a team of multi-disciplinary projects managers who oversee multiple projects in all phases from planning through construction, assist client with the planning and tracking of annual budget, develop executive level program reports and present at client and stakeholder meetings as needed. You’ll ensure compliance with the program’s internal and external reporting requirements for changes to existing projects or for newly developed projects, perform audits of project management team to ensure consistent implementation of program policy and procedures, manage and track project level cost, schedule, and budget (design, CM, and construction). Define, validate and monitor project scope, provide input on project delivery methods & contract packaging, identify processes and resources for project implementation, including funding sources and facilitate resolution of technical and contractual issues

You’ll monitor and report on progress and issues affecting project performance, application of QA/QC standards — both design and construction, project health, safety, environmental requirements, and monitor project risks by reviewing work product for completeness, quality, and timeliness including designs for adequacy and unambiguous information. Provide input to/support design decision tracking database and input to E&O committee, review and approval of invoices from various projects and manages workload of other PMs, and mentor/ train PMs and APMs.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering or Project Management from an accredited college or university

  • 15 years of progressive experience in program management or similar experience related to position

  • Experience with large aviation capital programs from a program/design management, design, construction, and/or operational perspective or similar large campus type facility or public works

  • Must have the following skills:

  • General construction knowledge

  • Leadership, mentoring, staff management, teamwork

  • Oral and written communication/presentation skills

  • Ability to coordinate/collaborate amongst a large number of stakeholders

  • Strong critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving

  • Ability to utilize computer systems as a tool to effectively manage tasks

  • Ability to work onsite full time with the program management team

  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Ideally, You'll Also Have:

  • Professional registration as a licensed architect or engineer in Illinois

  • Experience with alternate delivery contracts
