Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior IT Data & Solutions Engineer to join our corporate IT team. This role can be based at our headquarters in Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL.

In this role you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and integrated workflows to enable streamlined processing, advanced analytics, and actionable business intelligence solutions reflective of Komatsu’s business strategy. This role will collaborate closely with cross-team and cross-functional stakeholders to understand challenges related to extracting and harmonizing data across disparate sources, enabling efficient data orchestration, and construct knowledge graphs to create seamless information flows across systems to provide a cohesive and unified approach for digital transformation.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders and leadership to gather requirements and translate to data modeling specifications.

  • Plan, develop, and support data pipelines and integration workflows to meet business and IT objectives.

  • Implement data health and quality checks, validation rules, and procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

  • Optimize data processing by designing efficient data structures, indexes, partitioning strategies, and knowledge graphs.

  • Create and maintain documentation inclusive of design requirements and usability of data transformation pipelines.

  • Recommend improvements to existing data landscapes to management and executives for implementation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments to analyze data orchestration improvements and articulate optimal solutions for improvement.

  • Collaborate with analysts and data modeling experts to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.

  • Collaborate with data engineers and analysts, enterprise architects, IT SMEs, to optimize data processing, delivery, and performance.

  • Continuously evaluate the enterprise data landscape and identify integration and AI/ML opportunities across data sets to create value.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in data modeling, data integration, data management preferably in Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain industry.

  • Previous experience in data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, programming and scripting, and distributed data processing.

  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex business and IT requirements into technical specifications and data architectures.

  • Technical proficiency in Python, PySpark, Spark, SQL, and Azure DevOps.

  • Strong experience in data engineering, designing, and implementing data pipelines, ETL processes, and orchestrating data integration workflows.

  • Well versed in technology innovation advancements, including AI and ML capabilities

  • Ability to transform strategic discussions into concrete, actionable work plans

  • Ability to establish, build and maintain strong relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Must be able to apply the seven principles of the KOMATSU Way to their everyday work activities where applicable

  • Proven ability to create and build positive and productive relationships internally with employees and externally with clients and stakeholders

  • Excellent written, oral communication, project management and presentation skills, and the ability to present complex data and statistics in a simple and clear way
