Salary : $84,600 - $103,400, bonus eligible

Location: Position based in Chicago, IL. This position is not remote. - 1800 W. Fulton Street Chicago, IL 60612

Role Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will be accountable for directing and implementing all company environmental, health, safety, and security programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards, and requirements. This person will be relied upon to establish and maintain a proactive safety environment and culture.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for and develops the safety improvement initiatives and the daily management of ongoing environmental, safety and security operations in coordination with Goose Island Beer Co. management system expectations.

  • Provide insight, training, and information for senior management team regarding the Environmental, Safety, and Security strategic objectives and regulatory compliance issues.

  • Manages the General Liability prevention and claims management associated with Brew Pubs and having the Public / Consumers utilizing the facility.

  • Represents the facility to external regulatory agencies i.e., EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.

  • Leads safety, environmental, and sustainability community outreach programs that contribute to the company’s image.

  • Directs activities and conducts risk assessments to identify and control Environmental, Safety, and Security risks to reduce injuries and costs.

  • Conducts work in a sitting position; however, job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and light lifting.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field.

  • 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing facility.

  • Training experience required.

  • Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, purchasing functions and activities.

  • Basic to Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office-related software.

  • Solid understanding of Federal, State, OSHA, workers’ compensation & EPA laws/regulations.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, project management, and follow-up skills. Presentation skills for staff and team member events.

  • Experienced in statistical and problem-solving methods including Process Improvement, Risk Assessment, and Root Cause Analysis.

  • Strong written, oral, and listening communication skills. Ability to influence and skills to coach all levels within the facility.
