What you’ll be doing:

The Senior Analyst, Risk Appetite and Metrics is accountable for supporting the Senior Program Director, Risk Appetite and Metrics in building and monitoring Risk Appetite Statements tailored to local strategy as well as risk capacity and constraints; acting as a second line of defense to ensure accurate and timely data on risk measures; analyzing and implementing Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and related Management Information Systems (MIS) to track and report KRIs; preparing presentations and reports for senior management and boards; and analyzing and enhancing existing reports and designing new reports.

How you’ll succeed:

  • Support the Senior Program Director, Risk Appetite and Metrics in ensuring ongoing region-wide compliance with the US Risk Appetite Framework and related procedures for the monitoring and escalation of RAS metrics and related limit breaches.

  • Produce monthly reporting on Risk Appetite metric results, interpreting and analyzing trends and breaches to provide management insights into risk profile.

  • Liaise with metric owners to ensure timely responses to limit breaches and capture of related action plans.

  • Monitor and manage the stakeholder attestation process for qualitative Risk Appetite, investigating and helping action any exceptions or issues arising from the attestations.

  • Negotiate and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with risk metric data providers, driving ongoing improvements in lead times for data availability through process reviews.

  • Track and monitor the status of data collection workflows for monthly and quarterly risk appetite reporting, assisting data providers in timely and accurate data entry into the Metric Information and Reporting Data System (MIRDS).

  • Understand, interpret, and champion US data policies and related standards for Risk Appetite data, escalating instances of non-compliance, and monitoring remediation plans.

  • Collect and review manual data process documentation from risk metric data providers.

  • Escalate and help investigate data problems (e.g. late or inaccurate data) related to risk metrics.

  • Maintain up-to-date procedure documentation and process maps for key Risk Appetite metric creation, amendment, monitoring, and reporting processes.

  • Create and maintain dashboards for program key performance indicators to enable management to track the effectiveness of Risk Appetite processes and related controls.

  • Design and implement enhanced and automated reporting leveraging Microsoft Power BI.

  • Support the ongoing refinement of the control environment for Risk Appetite processes, including maintaining an inventory of controls and supporting the ongoing testing of controls.

  • Analyze and recommend system and process changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Risk Appetite processes.

  • Participate in, and support the creation of, new data sources or platforms as part of an ongoing effort to enhance the availability and aggregation of risk data in the US Region.

  • Maintain recordkeeping and filing systems to respond efficiently to exam and audit requests.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $65,900 - $115,400 for the New York, New York market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
