We’re looking for an Intermediate Search Engine Optimization Specialist with a deep passion for SEO. This role sits within our Growth Marketing team that resides in our overall Marketing department. This individual is responsible for driving and executing our SEO channel across the lifecycle, driving incremental traffic and conversions. The SEO Specialist will have a deep understanding of SEO from technical to on-page, and other best practices as it relates to channel growth, health, and other parts of our marketing efforts. This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Growth Marketing and collaborates with other members of the Marketing team, as well as other key stakeholders.

Our corporate headquarters is located in Chicago, IL. This role operates on a hybrid work model; employees spend two days working in the office and three days working remotely. We offer 401k plus vision, dental and medical benefits, as well as a paid holiday and PTO package.

Responsibilities:

  • Keyword Research: Conducts comprehensive keyword research to identify valuable B2B keywords and phrases that align with our business goals, audiences and lifecycle stages.

  • Technical SEO: Performs weekly and monthly audits that identify issues such as crawlability, indexing and site performance overall. Works with other marketing groups and cross-functional teams at large to solve and mitigate. Builds technical files (eg: XML, sitemap) as needed and/or in collaboration with outside teams, leading to timely and quality deliverable success.

  • On-page SEO: Optimizes content leveraging meta data, page structure, and other techniques for greater search engine visibility and rankings. Assists in large scale redesigns from an SEO perspective. Informs internal search engines and/or internal search engine tool performance by collaborating and providing SEO research to eCommerce/lead generation team members as needed

  • Content Optimization: Collaborates with brand team (eg: visual design, multimedia, copy, UX) and other teams to infuse SEO research, best practices and more into their outputs for SEO friendly content.

  • Competitor Analysis and Research: Performs routine competitive analysis to identify competitor SEO trends and insights.

  • Reporting: Produces quantitative and qualitative SEO reports monthly and ad-hoc with actionable recommendations incumbent will self-execute and/or in tandem with applicable team members.

  • Trends: Understands current and upcoming SEO trends + technologies, reporting on monthly to marketing leadership and as needed when new updates occur in real time (eg: Google algorithm trends).

  • Tools: Maintains the integrity and functionality of our SEO tools

  • Planning: Supports Sr. Manager, Growth Marketing with planning of ongoing SEO growth roadmap.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in marketing with at least 3 years of hands-on, relevant experience with a focus on SEO including keyword research, on-page SEO, technical SEO and other areas as called for by the job description, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Understanding of SEO across lifecycle stages related to eCommerce and traditional/lead generation

  • Experience and fluent with SEO tools, ideally SEMRush, Similar Web or other like tools (eg: Moz, Screaming Frog)

  • Experience and understanding of Google Analytics and Google Search Console

  • Experience and understanding of internal search engine tools for websites and marketplaces

  • Understanding of SEO within internal search engines related to websites and marketplaces

  • Ability to work and adapt in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities

  • Ability to influence, collaborate, and be adaptable within cross-functional teams and internal clients

  • A sharp eye for detail

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Data-centric mindset

  • Excellent, highly professional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency in juggling multiple, concurrent projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Able to multi-task without compromising quality

  • Hunger to continually learn, refine, and implement SEO best practices + knowledge

  • Understanding of schema.org an JSON-LD

  • Understanding of multi-lingual, multi-regional, and global SEO strategy

  • Critical thinking and reasoning skills

  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of SEO in eCommerce and ‘traditional’ digital lead generation; experience with Shopify is a plus

  • Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be assigned as necessary as it relates to the SEO area of responsibility
