The Department of Chemistry at the University of Chicago invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor appointment. The research assistant professor will conduct research with Professor Laura Gagliardi, their research group, and collaborators on the development of electronic structure theories for strongly correlated systems and the implementation of the relevant codes. The person hired is expected to initiate and raise funding for an independent project in this area and will be responsible for the development of active space based theories, quantum embedding methods and the development of codes that will be part of PySCF and other electronic structure packages. The term of the appointment will be for three years with the possibility of renewal.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in theoretical chemistry.
- A minimum of four years of related theoretical experience, beyond Ph.D. training, in development of electronic structure theories and programming in C, Fortran and Python languages is required.
